Is Beyond Good & Evil 2 in production despite lack of approval from Ubi?
Those of you with weak hearts, you might want to double up on your medication for this one. Michel Ancel, the dude responsible for the amazing Beyond Good & Evil and the Rayman games, has apparently confirmed with a French magazine that not only is work on Beyond Good & Evil 2 underway, but it's been worked on for over a year. We doubt there are words that can describe how you're feeling right now, so just hug your monitor right this instant. Go ahead, we're doing the same.
Okay, done? Good. Now, the only problem with all of this is that Ancel also said that Ubisoft did not green-light the project. With a total of 10-12 people working on the pre-production, we've got our fingers permanently crossed in hopes that Ubisoft will see that this sequel needs to happen. Also, we're going to keep this one labeled as a rumor, for now, considering how often we hear about a sequel to this game, only to have our hopes and dreams shattered.
If you work at Ubisoft and are reading this, tell your bosses that everyone wants this! Oh, and tell them to make it for the Wii, as well.

This baffles me, they haven't green-lite this project; yet they are willing to give us crap instead? (No, I like Red Steel and those Bunnies :D)

This is easily my second most wanted sequel after Shenmue III. Do it, Ubi!!

WARNING!!! Just because there's a sequel, doesn't mean its a Wii game. I thought I would share my further skepticism since this is the Wii Fanboy site after all!

That's why we included the desperate claim at the bottom. We'd love a sequel, but we'd also want it to go multi-platform like its predecessor. Of course, we might be getting our hopes too high again ...

People did cross platform last gen, but I can't remember very many PS3 or X360 games that ended up on the Wii. Its unlikely, unless its only a Wii game. I hope I'm wrong.

I might not have finished the first game, but it was a great game! I would love to see a sequel

I'm so frustrated I never got to play the first game. I couldn't find a copy of the Game Cube version when I got my Wii, so I picked up the PC version on the cheap and it wouldn't work with either my desktop or laptop. Even on the lowest graphical settings, etc., it wouldn't run and that shouldn't happen since the game is already a few years old. Oh well, I could never figure it out; maybe one day.

DO WANT
DO WANT LOTS
Now that my grammar has returned the normal, we really need a sequel to this. The game was fantastic and left far too many loopholes to be stand alone.
Do Want Sequel for Wii. Do Want.

This news just made my day! I sure hope it becomes reality AND is not left out on the Wii!

I, for the record, did not s*** bricks.
I S*** A NEUTRON STAR.

Seriously, why would Ubisoft not want them to make Beyond Good & Evil 2? Something is wrong with them.
Of course they have no problem cashing in with Rayman Raving Rabbids 3.

Might have something to do with, oh, I don't know, sales? If nobody buys the first game, what's the incentive to release a sequel? Good will? Yeah, like they need that - their other games sell like mad.

I just did not get what made BGE so beloved to many gamers. I played it for a few hours and was not smitten. It's pretty slick and well made, but it never rose above average action adventure game for me. Someone please justify the hyperbole in this post and the comments. I'm curious.

I wasn't absorbed at first either. It seemed to suffer from the bouncy, annoying design that kept me from liking Rachet and Clank or Jak and Daxter. Later on, though, it stops being focused around the god-awful combat sequences (although I'm sad to say that the final boss is a horrid experience) and begins to focus on stealth and puzzles, which is where the game really shines. Plus, collecting rare photographs was too much fun, at least for me. If you never reached an area that required stealth in the game, I implore you to go back and play until that point. Maybe then you'll like it some more.

Make it for the Wii! Power of the press!

What's most endearing to me about the game are the characters - they are believable, seem to have real and complex relationships, and they actually *matter* to the story.
Here's to hoping that some popularity can be drummed up w/ its rerelease on Steam (if you have a PC, go buy, now, to encourage Ubi :) ) to reacquaint people with this title.
(good job, you finally dragged me out of the lurking closet :) )

Please oh, please let it be for the wii. Ooh and bonus content for having my gamecube savegame? Puh-leeeeeeeeeeze?
