Get to know EA's Facebreakers
We've been keeping our eyes on Facebreaker, EA's charmingly silly boxing title. The latest slew of videos feature some "getting to know you" segments with two characters in the game, who are, in a word, strange. It's these quirky characters that make Facebreaker stand out from some of the other boxing games on the Wii, though.
The trailer above shows Romeo, who looks even scarier when he's washing a car than when he's boxing. After the break you can also check out Steve, the nerdy black-belt that likes to ride rhinos and play "Wizards and Lizards."

You know, ever since I played the boxing game on Wii Sports, I've really wanted to play a really fleshed out boxing game. Something spectacular.
This wasn't what I imagined.
And EA still refuse to bring Fight Night to the Wii. A decision which seems rather puzzling.
But I'll give this game a go, only because I want to quench the urge for a decent boxing game. (Victorious Boxers looks a right mess, from the limited time I've had with it, admittedly)

Victorious Boxers was AMAZING if you changed the controls.
I forgot which controls they were, but it had something to do with the movements and dodging weren't motion-controlled. Only punching was.
I have to say, I had more fun in that game than Wii Boxing... but Wii Boxing keeps the fight going on forever, while Victorious Boxers Revolution felt too short at times.
:D Ah well.

Victorious Boxer should've had better, simpler control.. having to hold a button while punching to launch a jab isn't good. And why do I need to hold 2 buttons to block punches while in Wii Boxing I only need to hold my two fists in front of me?.. bad, bad..
Either go fully motion controlled, or not at all. That's the problem with most Wii games, they try to satisfy both motion fans and button mashers alike, and fail everytime...

I don't care what boxing, bowling, baseball, golf games come out on the wii unless some of them actually use motion controls like wii sports... I would buy them up in a heartbeat if they took what wii sports did and expanded upon that control scheme

Certainly strange, but looks fluidly fun.
And I'm not sure I've ever seen a game that made a fat nerd look SO good at fighting. ...hell, I may even give him a go in the game.

looks funny enough to buy 3 years from now for 15$ at gamestop to kill a day or two
Anticrawl @ May 12th 2008 2:12AM
Seems kinda silly to do all that waiting to pay 15 dollars for a game you are only going to get a day or two of play from. Why not just rent the damn thing for half that amount and save yourself the waiting.
RatMasterD21 @ May 12th 2008 2:15AM
Anticrawl yea good idea i'll go with that one..

Does anyone else think these videos (not the game itself) is a bad attempt at copying the "Meet the *insert class here*" from Team Fortress 2?

We could sit here and argue or talk in circles forever over what came first but you could make a connection and question originality for just about everything.
