Activision announces Guitar Hero DS Lite bundle, new Tony Hawk

During Activision's conference call about their Q4 earnings, Activision dropped a relatively large bomb: in addition to the normal game/controller bundle, Guitar Hero: On Tour will be released as a bundle with both the Guitar Grip and DS Lite hardware. This portable Guitar Hero thing is much bigger than we thought, and this show of confidence on Nintendo's part bears out Todd Greenwald's prediction of big sales.In addition, Activision's Mike Griffith announced a new DS-exclusive Tony Hawk game to be released this year, that will "utilize new technology not yet seen on the DS." Maybe it'll be wheels, so you can ride your DS for real.

Maybe the touch screen will simulate a skateboard and you will use your fingers to "skate" on the touch board much like you would on Tech Decks. Yes, I know the DS doesn't feature Multi-touch BUT if you noticed when you put 2 fingers on the screen, a straight line is drawn (on pictochat for example) and if it's something like LoZ:PH, if you touch 2 points, link simply walks slowly in the center of hte 2 touches, so if programmed correctly, this could work. I'm not saying it would work or even be good or fun, but it's never before seen, and you never know how it will turn out.
Or maybe, the DS has "hidden" multi-touch...
OR a GBA slot add-on will add another screen so that way the board will be on 2 halfs, or the board on one half while the ground on the extra GBA screen so you can kick the ground on the new screen...
Okay, I'm getting tired of this...

In Hotel Dusk you had to touch two switches at the same time.

Excellent, then it works. Actually, I heard that it works by calculating a central point between the 2 (or more in other cases) points of touch. We'll just see what TH will bring to the DS. I have yet to get into a TH game though...

Really? I never knew that's how it works... it's a clever game, giving the kiss of life to someone by closing the lid. I loved it.

Okay, Activision, don't drop the ball on this new THPS DS. You don't even need to screw around with touchscreen-controlled skating to make it good, although it seems likely that this is part of what the mysterious "new technology" alludes to. Just, whatever you do, don't make it suck--if Skate DS turns out to be just a rumor or, otherwise, a horrendous product, we really need a backup.
