IGN pretty much confirms Kid Icarus
There's a big game coming for the Wii this holiday -- we know this because Reggie said so -- and IGN's Matt
So there you go -- can't say we're hugely surprised to hear of Pit's return, but that doesn't mean we're looking forward to it any less. Casamassina refused to reveal who was behind it, but we hear the folks at Retro are currently kicking back and taking a break from the Metroid universe ... *
* Wanton speculation.

I knew I wasn't the only one with possessed Nintendo Power magazines!
jacman80 @ May 9th 2008 3:31AM
only 27, but that was my third NES game. Following Super Mario Bros and Excitebike.
Never completed it though.
N4N0T3CH @ May 8th 2008 5:52PM
A couple of months ago it was rumored that Factor 5 was working on Kid Icarus, and Matt has nearly said as much in the podcast.
Papytendo @ May 8th 2008 5:23PM
Way to go IGN, to ruin the surprise that we all knew about.
Tim @ May 8th 2008 5:26PM
Am i the only 30 year old excited about this??? Do you kids even know who KI was before Brawl??
dswill79 @ May 8th 2008 5:35PM
I got your back on this one Tim. I'm all about some good ol' KI action! This 29 year old here really enjoyed the original, time and time again.
Aaron @ May 8th 2008 7:31PM
Yeah, I'm 28, and with each new Nintendo system I've wondered why the Big N hadn't yet revived and reinvented this series. If this is true it will be a must-own for me.
brbarnhart @ May 9th 2008 1:44AM
30 year old guy here too. I loved Kid Icarus on NES. My brothers and I used to play it for hours. We all got together to play it on the Virtual Console. So fun.
It is a challenging game, but it gets a lot easier after the first couple levels.
adolson @ May 9th 2008 9:28AM
I am excited, and I'm only 26... But I'm confused - is this gonna be a prequel? Pit died after I beat the game all those years ago... (Speaking of the GameBoy sequel.)
TheOverlord#2 can has Mario Karts?(MK:2578-3517-9859) @ May 9th 2008 2:56PM
How does an angel die?
ECG @ May 8th 2008 5:41PM
He mentions Kid Icarus nearly every podcast. I wonder how they'll sell it, another third person adventure doesn't really excite me.
Croove55 @ May 8th 2008 6:00PM
I got KI for the VC, and, aside from the fact that I CAN'T BEAT IT, it's pretty fun.
Now, I have three different responses depending on how this goes.
Kid Icarus Wii being developed by Nintendo or Retro:
HELLZ ------> THE YES
" developed by Factor 5: H...hooray?
" developed by Platinum Games (a.k.a. Seeds, formerly Clover):
God's existence has been proven, world peace a reality, and collective happiness creates a beam of pure joy which destroys two of Jupiter's moons
samfish @ May 8th 2008 9:39PM
Platinum Games developing a Kid Icarus sequel...that would be...so...so so so awesome. I don't think I can put it into words, for such words do not yet exist to describe such awesomeness.
adolson @ May 9th 2008 9:31AM
Any of those three would do an amazing job, and you know it.
That being said, I'm sure it's Factor5, based on Cassamassina's comments. They did Lair, and sure it wasn't great, but they also pulled off some of, if not the, prettiest graphics on a Nintendo console, ever. And that was when the GameCube launched... Great graphics aren't everything, but at this point, at least it's something.
Mr Khan @ May 8th 2008 6:11PM
I'd be interested in seeing what they do to it after all this time
I mean, it's Nintendo. They won't fuck it up, but will it blow us away?
Mrblonde @ May 8th 2008 6:23PM
I was hoping for a kirby or an actual donkey kong game. This is good too though.
Ghen @ May 8th 2008 8:40PM
Another kirby game would be awesome.
ththxtreme2 @ May 8th 2008 6:28PM
If it is developed by Nintendo that it is almost bound to be at worst decent. If it is made by a 3rd party that may even be better due to the fact that we need a good strong 3rd party support. If others see that a 3rd party game (not a party, mini game fiasco, mind you) can sell on the wii then hopefully it will lead to more exclusive content for the big N
scissors125 @ May 8th 2008 9:04PM
It's nice to see Pit back. All of my friends are going to be upset about it not being Animal Crossing, lol.
Pat @ May 8th 2008 7:04PM
I might be seventeen, but I remember the end of the NES era.
Oh, and I also have the ROM which is fun.
Too bad metroid was released on the same day.
MechaGamerX @ May 8th 2008 7:40PM
Awesome, can't wait for it.
Santos L. Halper @ May 8th 2008 7:47PM
@ Croove55
Has there been any rumors of it being made by PlatinumGames or are you just saying it would be awesome? (It would be) But as awesome as that would be I'd still like to see it being made by Retro.

You guys should try going to other web sites other then this one.Gamepro talked with factor 5 they are makeing this game.If nothing else go to n4g.com.
Mickey @ May 8th 2008 9:29PM
I went to n4g.com and the article was talking about the rumored story line where Pit "Is cursed for a thousand years for a crime and is now a kind of fallen angel". hhhmmm, that doesn't quite sound like a nintendo storyline to me, to dark methinks. it also said they were leaning to an "adult Pit".
I would think the game would more in the style of a Zelda game.
samfish @ May 8th 2008 9:32PM

Don't cry, samfish...don't cry. This only LOOKS bad!
It only...looks...bad...
OH GOD! WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOU, PIT?!
*sobs*
(if true, of course)
Silver Arrows @ Jul 23rd 2008 1:50PM
I hope those Kombo images are not the real deal. If they make Pit into that I shall cry. Which part of 'Kid' from Kid Icarus do they not understand?! That's completely ruined my excitement =(
Please Nintendo! Base him on the Brawl model!!
raindog @ May 8th 2008 9:52PM
I think Matt was being a bit tongue in cheek and playing to his audience. But I guess we'll see in another.... 2 months and change? Ugh.
Sonic_13 @ May 8th 2008 9:53PM
The thing is though, if IGN was actually told a new Kid Icarus is in development, they wouldn't be able to say a word about it. This is just speculation (but I hope it comes true).
adolson @ May 9th 2008 2:37PM
Matt is married to a chick from Nintendo PR, so, if anyone outside would know, it'd be him.
SImpression @ May 9th 2008 3:25AM
Ugh. I was hoping it would be a game i'd actually look forward to.
Haven't IGN been saying this for a long time, and you guys kind of made fun of them for it way back? *Sigh*. I hope Nintendo has better surprises at E3.
Shadow31 @ May 9th 2008 10:11AM
You shame me horribly. I mean, it's Kid Icarus. This is like when they revived Metroid on the GCN.
I have been hearing that Nintendo has a few surprises for its late 2008 lineup, though, so if this really doesn't excite you at all, there may be more... read the responses to letters in the latest Nintendo Power, they say they know a few titles that Nintendo isn't letting them reveal yet (hopefully Animal Crossing, Kirby, and maybe even Donkey Kong? Who am I kidding, I'm dreaming). Still, any Kid Icarus game would rock, and knowing how much games have softened up by now, it would not nearly be as punishing.
SImpression @ May 9th 2008 4:17PM
Sorry that i shame you because im not interested in a game >.>
Kid Icarus was never for me.
Hostile @ May 9th 2008 3:37AM
I never played Kid Icarus on the NES but it would certainly be interesting.
ZagZagovich @ May 9th 2008 2:41PM
Actually in the first interview about revolution(wii's first name) they said that old franchises like Kid Ikarus and some other one will be revived.
Hamster @ May 9th 2008 3:07PM
I think ever since he was announced for Brawl, it's been inevitable that the franchise would make a return.
