Wherefore art thou, Mega Man?
When Capcom said that we wouldn't be seeing Bionic Commando on the Wii, that wasn't entirely true. What is true is that the decision is completely up to Nintendo -- but that goes for all Capcom games, not just the retrospectively controversial Hitler-killing ones.According to Capcom's Public Relations Director Chris Kramer, the company licensed the rights to their games to Nintendo. It's therefore completely up to Nintendo whether and when Capcom titles get released on the Virtual Console -- Capcom no longer has any input in the decision.
That's all fine and good, but at the same time, it makes us a little uneasy. One question we have -- where is the Mega Man series on North American consoles? Why is it taking so long for Nintendo of America to release even one game of the beloved series? Nintendo obviously has plenty of games on their plate that they'd like to release in a timely fashion, but when that stops us from playing some of our favorite Capcom classics, we can't say we're too happy about it.
What about you? Are there any Capcom games that you wish Nintendo would just hurry up with?

I want Mega Man (at least 2 and 3) on the Virtual Console because then I could play it with the A and B buttons in the right orientation (unlike the Mega Man collection disc).
Roto13 @ May 5th 2008 6:09PM
Blargh, yes. Though the PS2 version has non-screwed controls.
What the hell were they even thinking?
Charcole @ May 5th 2008 6:14PM
[insert hentai joke concerning megaman pic]
shawn @ May 6th 2008 7:53AM
i wouldnt mind seeing little nemo along with megaman 3...i thought little nemo was a great game
Gewurztraminer says: R.O.B. is the last Cylon! @ May 6th 2008 9:44AM
Nemo was Capcom? that makes sense. it was a good game, i just wasn't particularly good AT it.
MrGam3r @ May 5th 2008 6:23PM
not to be a spoil sport, but that title doesn't make sense with the story. 'Wherefore' actually means 'Why', not 'where'. It is a common misconception because 'wherefore' has 'where' in it. Just thought i'd point that out.

Thanks

Watch out, Candace! It's the grammar police!

Although the Wii has become the butt of all port-jokes, I'd love to see the PSP re-releases of Mega Man Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X. Particularly MHX. Oh, and how about the planned and aborted MHX sequels, while were on the topic?
Mr.ESC @ May 5th 2008 9:17PM
Yeah I have all the Megaman games for the PSP except for the Legends one and all of them are awesome.
lukeR @ May 5th 2008 7:07PM
Not to be a douchebag, but in my English class we are studying Shakespeare, and we learned "Wherefore" means "Why". It's a common misconception.
lukeR @ May 5th 2008 7:08PM
damn, I was beat.
That's what I get for not reading all the comments..
Kool_Kid_Joe @ May 5th 2008 7:15PM
Pet peeve: "Wherefore" means "Why", not "Where". i.e., "Why are you Mega Man?" "Because Rock Man sounds corny to American listeners."
MasterInsan0 @ May 5th 2008 7:33PM
Wow, a bunch of spoil sports and douchebags came straight out of the woodwork for this one. Good job making yourselves feel better about your useless English degrees, folks.
Rockman Zero @ May 5th 2008 7:50PM
Hey, i know.
Instead of giving us Rockman games that we can already play, by just doing one simple google search. (rockman roms, emulator)
Why not give us a built from the ground up new 2-d Rockman game for the Wii/WiiWare?
Now that would be so much better.
bearmedal @ May 5th 2008 7:52PM
DuckTales needs a Virtual Console release ASAP.

Robert Baldwin @ May 5th 2008 10:58PM
Objection! This comment is clearly on topic, as shown by the question: "Are there any Capcom games that you wish Nintendo would just hurry up with?"
Personally I'm fine with my GameCube Anniversary collections, but would love a *new* outing for the blue bomber on the Wii.
I never was very good at that pogo jumping in Ducktales.
Candace Savino @ May 6th 2008 4:34AM
Agreed!
Gewurztraminer @ May 6th 2008 12:28PM
Rescue Rangers!
Christopher @ May 5th 2008 8:24PM
I will bet 500 wii points that the Megaman games are being withheld from the VC until closer to the release of Megaman Wii. I expect an announcement before the end of 2008.
SoshiKitai @ May 5th 2008 8:28PM
I was just gonna' say that.
...except I wasn't gonna' bet anything.
My luck hates me, so betting's not very smart for me.
zorko @ May 5th 2008 10:15PM
I know this hasn't stopped other franchises, but for me there's no need to spend $5-8 each for Mega Man games when you can get 10 of them on a compilation disc that plays in your Wii for $15 at gamestop.
bobday @ May 6th 2008 1:47AM
its all abouyt the classic capcom/disney games released on the snes. any capcom game for the snes should be released for that matter.
Micah @ May 6th 2008 4:52AM
Mega Man 64 would be welcome, though I already have the PSX version. Also, if they were to start adding Game Boy games, I would love to see the LoZ: Oracle games on the VC.
As for WiiWare, an original Gyakuten Saiban/Ace Attorney game would be awesome. =D
macanima @ May 6th 2008 8:00AM
It'll probably be a cold day in hell before we see any VC releases from Capcom. I imagine Nintendo is still being pissy over the RE4 thing.
Gewurztraminer says: R.O.B. is the last Cylon! @ May 6th 2008 9:46AM
Yeah, I'm sure Nintendo would never allow any Capcom ports of PS2 games. Particularly not any about Japanese wolf-goddesses.
Thomas Skibinski @ May 6th 2008 2:04PM
???
Gewurztraminer says: R.O.B. is the last Cylon! @ May 6th 2008 2:46PM
@ skiblinski: sorry, i was trying to be funny (it didn't work). I simply meant, if Nintendo was still bitter about RE4 with Capcom, would they allow titles such as Okami (or Zack & Wiki for that matter) to exist for the Wii?
I doubt Nintendo would think to themselves, "hm, Capcom didn't stay exclusive with game 'x', let's NOT make money off of them via VC with game 'y'.
And now that i've learned my lesson, I will refrain from sarcasm. for the next 24 hours.
Flaken2000 @ May 6th 2008 11:21AM
It's hard to understand the lack Mega Man games on the VC.
I would of course buy any Mega Man release. Next to Mario, it's the best game series on the NES.
Timerider @ May 6th 2008 11:56AM
Dead Rising, nuff said.
Thomas Skibinski @ May 6th 2008 2:08PM
MegaMan on the VC would be AWESOME!!!
Dipso @ May 6th 2008 6:37PM
MM1 and MM2 is out in europe, so i cant see that there should be any legal dispute or similar keeping it from the US...
