VC Monday Madness video wrap-up 5/5/08

This week, we've got two titles on the Virtual Console tap. How are they? Well, we can't waste precious space here telling you about them. That's what the video above is for! And, if you can't check out our videos for some reason, head past the break for some screens and text.
Renegade hasn't held up, if you ask me. The gameplay gets really tired, fairly early on, and even though you can do some cool things like control the direction of combat, as well as grab enemies, it all boils down to you being as cheap as possible to get through areas as quickly as possible. It may only be $5, but we're sure you can find plenty of better titles on the Virtual Console for that money.

Pokemon Puzzle League is a puzzle game in Pokemon clothing. If you're looking for any kind of activity that involves those little critters, you won't find it here. Instead, you'll find lots of fun puzzle action, available in multiple flavors. On top of the basic fun of puzzle gameplay, there's loads of activities to do in the game, from the Puzzle Academy to the timed challenges. Give it a try.
Each week, we here at Wii Fanboy like to check out the latest Virtual Console releases in our VC Monday Madness feature, for you, in the hopes that you can make the most sound decision you can regarding purchasing retro titles on the Wii.

For Pokemon Puzzle League, I'd say either wait for Tetris Attack or just get Planet Puzzle League for the DS. Sure, Planet Puzzle League has no Nintendo license like Yoshi or Ash Ketchum, but it has touch screen controls and Nintendo WiFi Connection compatibility. Pokemon Puzzle League would be a waste of your money and Wii Points.

This is why Im mad I wasn't born in the NES era but happy I was born in the SNES to N64 era.
Ive played PPL on the N64 when I was a Pokemon fanatic. Its really fun...but, look at this! I have the GBC PPL! :P
And I save a bunch on Wii points cause I have the N64 classics like SSB, SM64, DK64, PKMN Snap, LoZ: OoT, LoZ: MM, Paper Mario, Diddy Kong Racing, WR64, & PKMN Stadium 1&2.

Pokémon Puzzle League is one of my favorite version of Panel de Pon, and having fond memories of playing on the N64 this was a definite download. Sure I have PPL on the DS, but sometimes you just want to play something on the big screen.
Also, if you press start during the opening cut scene at just the right time Ash looks really pissed that the phone just rang. XD

David you never said how to control with PPL. If i can use classic controller d-pad seems like fun, but I would really hate to use the analog stick on this type of game.
Also is it required to play this game with no sound on the TV. The voice over seems to be annoying.
With Wiiware next week I'm buying lots of stuff so this seems like a good game but not worth my points.

D-pad on the Classic Controller works. It's like any other N64 game, supports Classic Controller and GC controller. As for the audio thing, I'm not too sure.
