Non-Earthbound ESRB ratings fly high [update]
Okay, so they aren't Earthbound. That one got its own post (and, we hope, its own release sooner than ESRB-rated gems like Pro Wrestling and Zombies Ate My Neighbors). Even though we're all tired from freaking out about Shigesato Itoi's sci-fi RPG, a bunch of awesome game ratings that would normally cause us to freak out have as yet gone un-freaked-out-about, on both Virtual Console and WiiWare. The biggest news for us on the VC: Super Dodge Ball. It's probably the NES game, but there's an outside chance it's the Neo Geo game. Either way, we love Aksys. And from SNK, Samurai Shodown II and Metal Slug.
WiiWare's ratings range from expected to thrilling. Among the games found on the ESRB website that were not yet confirmed for U.S. release, Dr. Mario Wii and Family Ping Pong stand out. Other new ratings include Gyrostarr, Pop, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, V.I.P Casino: Blackjack, and Magnetica Twist (Minna de Puzzloop).
[Update: removed reference to Donkey Kong Country 3. Not sure why that was mixed in with the recent ratings, or why I forgot it was already out. Well, I know why I forgot about it.]

Isn't Donkey Kong Country 3 already out on virtual console?

Where's Donkey Kong 64?? That game had some of the coolest lighting in it thanks to the 4MB Expansion Pak.

Meh...I've got nearly all the games on VC that I wanted...there are really only two that I still MUST HAVE:
1). Goldeneye 007
2). TMNT2: The Arcade Game
Stoopid Microsoft stealing them both...grrrrrr...

Goldeneye was cool back in 1997, but it sucks now. Route out an old N64 and try it out yourself. The game sucks.

Goldeneye is horrible. I don't know why people keep thinking console shooters are worth anything, especially when this came out when Quake and Quake 2 were already doing everything much better on the computer.
TMNT 2 for the NES is horrendous. The actual arcade game is great though. Download the ROM or buy a cabnet.

Why must someone always bring up PC shooters when talking about console shooters? We get it. The control scheme is more fluid for PCs. Some of us can't afford a good PC to play all these games. Goldeneye is remembered because it was really the first console FPS to get it right. And yes, FPSs work on consoles. They'r e just not as accurate. Whoopty shit. Get over yourselves.

Samurai Shodown II?!
SWEET!
I also want to see Pulseman be released here in the US!

The Kunio-kun series has been exploding on VC lately. How great. I'd love to see Nintendo World Cup added to that list though, it's the only one I still want to play(besides super dodgeball).

I would rather get Dr. Mario. (those pills can be sooo addicting). Cold... VIRUSES.

SUPER FRIGGIN DODGEBALL!!! One of my top five NES games of all time! Rock....though I'm intrigued by this NeoGeo talk......

Um, yeah too bad Donkey Kong Country III has been out on the VC for a long time, and too bad that game is FREAKING TERRIBLE! It is really honestly bad, and I love the first two.
