Recently, Capcom discussed the
Guinness world record for "Most Number of Games in a Single Series," currently held --
handily -- by their
Mega Man series. We doubt that when Keiji Inafune and his contemporaries decided to make a game around the concept of "
Astro Boy, but in a blue suit," they thought even for a minute that their action-platformer would be the most prolific franchise in the history of games -- and yet it is.
Do you think that after all the spinoffs, spinoffs of spinoffs, cameo appearances, and new characters, there's still life in the franchise? We're of the opinion that there's
definitely more to be done with the original Blue Bomber, if only Capcom would
do something.

I've never played a Megaman game...
...having said that, a sequel to the GBA Astro Boy would be cool. I'd buy without a second thought.

I actually enjoyed the X (1 to 3 that is) series and the Zero series more than the original Megaman Games on the NES and Megaman 7 on the SNES. So I was really happy to see some screens of ZX when it was about to come out. Too bad it wasn't as good as the Zero series.
Also I'd definately buy a new title in the original series even though I don't think it would have the same charme as the NES games, but still anything would be better than yet another battle network title.
I really hope they fill the story gap between the X and Zero series with games. So yeah: Come on Capcom, drop the weird Battle Network games and make some cool games! :D

wha? drop MMBN? i don't think so, that's my favorite series. i would like to know what happened after MMBN6 [although, there were some hints as to that in Ryussei no Rockman 1].

Yep- EXE is my favorite of the Rockman games. I really wish they made an EXE7. Eh- I'll get to playing the Ryuusei no Rockman someday.

There were fans working on EXE7, but I haven't been keeping up. Their site is exe-undersq.com

I dunno, with the number of Mario games released each year, I'm tempted to call shenanigans.

im usually aginst re-makes and such .
but mega-man is way different then mario nor zelda .
each game has a different "thing " and specil features of its own .
the megaman serias is just the basic concept to the other games, and each one is uniqe .
tho i whould like to see more zero nor ZX on the DS.

The only Mega Man game that would get my money now would be a remake of 2, like they did with 1 on the PSP. Though I hated the art style they used. A lot.

The only megamans I hand't played are the Battle Network spin off. I did liked megaman from 1 to 9, the X series (yeah, event 7 and 8, selecting which who I wanna play and adding a third character was good for me), Command Mission was amazing, the Zero series, man, rocked, ZX are...... ok, but, the BN series never appealed to me, just, weren't megaman enough for me to play em. Even Megaman Soccer was fun and Megaman Carts was actually entertaining
I hope more megaman is to some, specially one that closes the Gap between Megaman and X, i'm getting sick of all the fanfics of that gap
Eccentric-Servbot @ May 2nd 2008 3:33PM
I'm personally desperately clinging to the idea of Megaman Legends 3...I miss the Servbots so...

I've played a few of the MM Battle Network GBA games and thought they were fun, mainly because the battle system wasn't like anything else I had seen before. It's a lot more involved than mashing the A button, which I find refreshing.
I recently picked up the MM Star Force: Leo game, which has a battle system similar to Battle Network, and played it through to the end. I'll pick up Star Force #2 whenever it's released in the US, after the price drops a bit.

I've never been good at the side scrolling megaman games. I'm just not good enough. Which is why the Battle Network/Star force games are right up my alley. Plus Flameman.EXE and SolCrossMegaman.EXE rock. (Don't get me started on the fun I had with the MMSF2's type combos..)

Megaman is deserving of going back to his roots and actually be about MUSIC (Why else does he have the name Rockman? And his sister's name is Roll? And Protoman is Blues?).
I loved the NES games' music...
