FFTA2 boxart just what you expected
But, in all seriousness, isn't it? When looking back at the game and its coverage in Japan, we've all pretty much seen the boxart. Once it was confirmed for release in North America (and dated), we were fairly certain that the U.S. boxart would just be some rearrangement of the Japanese logo for the game. And, here we are.
That's not to say we're any less excited about the whole thing, however. We're still dying to get our play on, one turn at a time.
Do you enjoy Final Fantasy games? We've got plenty of coverage on the many titles in the franchise Square Enix is releasing on the DS. Also, be sure to check out our 2008 Blips feature, which FFTA 2 was featured in.

Yeah, the logo usage was to be expected, but I love the color scheme and overall design! It looks so... classy.

Don't the Square Enix games almost always look classy, though? They do have some very talented artists over there.

Usually, yeah, but there's just something about this one that I really like *shrug*
Maybe because it looks more mature, as though they don't want the game to be pigeonholed as "kiddy", like a lot of people did with the original FFTA.

Nice cover. I hope it has a better story than FFTA. I found that game very disappointing.

I never completed FFTA, but I pulled it out the other day to kind of get into the sort of game again. My save file was up to 95 hours, and I had some pretty powerful characters - but I have no idea how far I was from the end.
Looking forward to 2 though - after getting used to DS games, playing a game on the DS that only uses one screen is almost disorienting.

Oh jeez, 95 hours? I'm only on around 30 and I figured I must be getting close to the end. I might as well give up on my goal of having it finished before FFTA2 comes out.

Keep in mind, I spent a lot of time in extra battles working on characters and stuff, and wasn't so fast to the story. I don't know what is the expected clear time, so you may very well be close to the end.

Box is kinda creepy in a way.

That's a pretty drastic change from FFTA's boxart, and I must say I like it. The dark, two-tone image of whatever arcane horror they're showing there really has an impact.
Now, I hope at least one or two people will help me with this: if I had to choose between one or the other, would TWEWY or FFTA2 be the better Square-Enix game to buy this year? I was squarely in the FFTA2 camp, but the universal praise for TWEWY has made me reconsider. Odds are I'll own them both eventually, but I need to know which one will be less painful to live without until Amazon or GameStop drops it to $25-30 eventually.
