Brawl Stage of the Week: The Web

Welcome to Nintendo Wii Fanboy's Brawl Stage of the Week feature, in which we showcase some of our favorite Smash Bros. Brawl stages. We'll have some themed weeks, some contest weeks, and some "whatever we damn well please" weeks to help you keep your Brawl experience fresh.
This week we're featuring a completely original stage, made by SoshiKitai. Called "The Web," Soshi considers this one his masterpiece -- and we can see why. The picture doesn't really translate how fun and crazy this stage actually is. In fact, "The Web" is so massive that not even the warp star trick can fully capture it. Luckily, you can experience it for yourself by downloading it here, but check on after the break for some more details on the stage and instructions on how to play it.

The Web by SoshiKitai
This stage is best described by its name -- "The Web." Like a giant spider web, it's easy to get stuck in one of the stage's many compartments. The dropping boxes and thin stage pieces allow you to escape though, so it's never too frustrating. The large number of compartments also make this stage very maze-like.

1. Download the file
2. Save it to an SD card in the following location:
- US versions of Brawl: \private\wii\app\RSBE\st\st_080422_2249.bin
- Japanese versions of Brawl: \private\wii\app\RSBJ\st\st_080422_2249.bin
4. During the stage selection, click "Melee Stages" in the bottom-right corner
5. Then click "Custom Stages" in the bottom-right corner and choose the custom stage you want to play on (this particular stage is called "The Web")
Still don't get it? Not sure how to send in your own creation? Other questions on the stage feature? Just email smashsubs@nintendowiifanboy.com

We'd very much like to see some of your contributions and suggestions, so send them in to smashsubs@nintendowiifanboy.com. From the hard, to the ridiculous, to the incredibly awesome, to the even more ridiculous, make sure to show us your favorites (and your own creations)!
A theme we'd like to do soon is DS-inspired stages. You can send us any stages you've seen or made for future use, but if you'd like to participate in our upcoming theme week, make sure to send stages inspired by DS games or the handheld itself!

Giant stages with enclosed spaces are never fun to play. I'll try this one anyway, though.
Eternityx @ Apr 29th 2008 4:47PM
Yea, stages like this one are "too" accessible so it becomes a chore to KO someone sometimes. But kudos for great level design. :D

You know, this would be a good exercise: people could post things that they thing make for a good or bad stage. I've searched for tips like that, and not found any.

Awesome! I got featured! :D
Sorry for you guys who don't like gigantic stages... I tend to like ensuing chaos. :P
SoshiKitai @ Apr 29th 2008 6:56PM
Er... ensuing LARGE OPEN SPACE chaos... there we go.
I just prefer building large stages... but since I've come to the realization that most Wii Fanboys love small stages, I'll try my best to make some! ... once I put down Mario Kart.

Looks like fun!
Though i'll have to put down Mario Kart...nevermind...xD Just kidding
Have you gotten/tested out my stages yet? How do you like them?(WiiFanboy.com & Peach's Castle)
SoshiKitai @ Apr 30th 2008 2:18PM
Haven't tested your stage yet. I haven't been on my Wii for a while, and when I got back to it I've been busy on my MKWii.
I'll be sure to try it sometime this week, though.
Oh, and as for my FC code. I don't have it on me right now, but I'll be sure to send it to you either by PM, email, or responding to this.
:D

Oh, for the stages, that was directed at Candace.
For the FC, if you reply to this, i'lk check up on it. Or you could reply to one of my newer posts.
May as well not e-mail though, cause I don't check it regularly(I use Wii's internet channel)and you'd have to tell me anyway.
Hope to race you soon!

I'll add you tonight. :D
Candace Savino @ May 6th 2008 5:58AM
Yep, I got them!
Didn't spend a lot of time playing on them yet (have a lot to get through!) but I took a look at them. The wiifanboy one was lol, I may make that idea (Wii Fanboy tribute) a theme one week :D
P.S. sorry for the delayed response!

SoshiKitai is one of my favorite WiiFanboy readers.
TheWarlock @ Apr 29th 2008 11:06PM
Meh, I'll try not to critisize too sourly [too much AI]... This looks pretty good, I'll have to pop it in and play it a few extra times to get the feel though. AWESOME.
SoshiKitai @ Apr 30th 2008 2:19PM
Awesome! Thanks! I have a fan! :D
I was almost sure most people hated my ranting around here.
SoshiKitai @ Apr 30th 2008 2:20PM
Oops, that was supposed to be for Justin... darn these internet explorer windows never remember that I pressed the "Reply" button.
David Hinkle @ Apr 30th 2008 8:05PM
That's the problem, "Internet Explorer." Get with the Firefox, buddy! :)
SoshiKitai @ Apr 30th 2008 8:08PM
Sadly, I couldn't do it on the library computers during then.
(I'm legally NOT SUPPOSED TO add anything to the computer... even if it does help it)
This computer (mine) does use Firefox. :P
