May's VC games for Japan: May include MSX games
Nintendo has released the planned May lineup of Virtual Console games for Japan, and while it doesn't include any megatons (like last month most certainly did), there are at least a lot of games on the list. The first two MSX games, Eggy and Aleste, are supposed to make their fashionably late appearance, but we find it a lot easier to believe that they'll be bumped for some Wonder Boy ports.Other interesting games, which may actually be released, include: Front Mission Series: Gun Hazard, a shooter similar to Cybernator (in fact director Toshiro Tsuchida worked on both games) and based on the Front Mission series of strategy games; Star Parodier, the "silly" Star Soldier game; and Martial Champion, a CD-based Street Fighter clone from Konami. Hit the break for the full list!
Famicom:
- Bubble Bobble
- Axelay
- Ganbare Goemon 2
- Front Mission Series: Gun Hazard
- Alex Kidd in Miracle World
- Gynoug (Wings of Wor)
- Super Fantasy Zone
- Star Parodier (CD)
- Fire Pro Wrestling 2nd BOUT
- Break In
- Martial Champion (CD)
- Fatal Fury 2
- Ninja Combat
- Burning Fight
- Eggy
- Aleste

I wish they'd take into consideration the aches and pains of fanboys worldwide and release SmashBros for the 64. But, I'm sorta patient... I'll just sit here... alone... without any SmashBros....

Why would you want a very inferior game when you might have Melee (Europe) or Brawl (American); I just don't get it. I will just find it a complete waste to release that game instead of another N64 game for that month, like Majora's Mask since a lot of people want it, I still own it.

It's a Classic game that marked a age in the nintendo fan base, and every nintendo fanboy must have the trilogy on his hands.
This one is the only I'm missing having it on a catridge, and getting it on my VC will be a must have for me
Anyway, we must wait, and if you don't want it, just don't get it. I still play this game from time to time on a emulator

Actually, like many other fanboys of my kind, I have both Smash brothers titles but it'd be very nice, as pointed out by CJ, that I'd have the original on my wii. Then I'd be able to say "huh, which one do I want to play on my wii? Original? Melee [backwards compatibility] or Brawl?" Yeah, a little over the top but, that's just me.
TheOverlord#2 can has Mario Karts?(MK: FC coming soon!) @ Apr 26th 2008 10:42PM
I have Super Smash Bros. for the N64, it's awesome.
Mario is actually a top tier fighter whereas now he's very low middle. D: Master Hand is actually hard to beat and "Board The Platforms" is fun.
I also sent in my Peach's castle stage recreation to the Brawl stage of the week, so if they pick it, then you should play it.

I always wanted to play Eggy. Actually, I didn't.

It would be nice if somehow people could set up dummy accounts and be able to use the japanese wii shop channel to buy this stuff.
Like on the ps3 where people can have a japanese and american psn account.
Maybe someone should look for a homebrew exploit? Because nintendo would be making money off the hackers since people would be paying nintendo though the japanese store.
Mr Khan @ Apr 26th 2008 3:39PM
I believe Joystiq covered this on "ask joystiq," the way the Wii Shop Channel selection works is by the console's built-in region encoding
Asian NTSC, North American NTSC, and PAL. I believe that you can, within those three areas, just go to the Wii Set Up screen and falsely declare your nation of origin (so that South Koreans could catch up on the Japanese VC, or Central Americans can get the US's selection, or Aussies can get out of VC BFE)
That is strictly tied to the console itself, though. So if you took your American Wii to Japan, you'd still link to the American VC. No exploit has solved this yet,

Martial Champion was awesome.
zoltari @ Apr 26th 2008 9:07PM
SD Snatcher... Now that would be a cool MSX game to port over (as would Metal Gear).
NSWMaps @ Apr 26th 2008 6:29PM
Oh, I wish i could have Majoras Mask for the VC. Its been to long without it. :(
Tyler @ Apr 26th 2008 7:48PM
MSX = glorified Atari.
hvnlysoldr @ Apr 26th 2008 8:59PM
Can NWF do another retrospective on Wonder Boy when all games are finally available? That'd be cool.
