Capcom fixes Okami boxart goof awesomely
The Okami boxart issue discovered this week, or Watermarkgate, could have been a huge embarrassment for Capcom. Instead, it's become a totally great situation for everyone who bought the game. Capcom announced via their blog that any Okami owner can receive a free replacement boxart in one of three styles. One is just the normal boxart with (presumably) less IGN advertising, but the other two are beautiful art pieces with no Wii box design conventions.
So not only do you get amazing new boxart free from Capcom, you also have a highly collectible "error" art. And there's probably something inside the box, as well -- maybe a game or whatever.

You know, I notice there's no place where they ask you for proof you bought the game... >.>
Ghen @ Apr 24th 2008 4:07PM
Yep, ordered one for myself. I don't own the game. I don't own the ps2 version. I never downloaded it. I'm just wasting box art and proud of it.
Go1denchi1d @ Apr 24th 2008 12:36PM
I know! I ordered it and I didn't even buy the game. In my defense, I plan to buy the game next month.
Phil @ Apr 24th 2008 12:53PM
It seems as though they don't check if you ordered more than one, either. I couldn't really decide which one I wanted, so I ordered all 3 (2 from one email address, 1 from another). I got the same message every time, so I assume they didn't check for duplicates.
flameofdoom666 @ Apr 24th 2008 1:14PM
Did you get the confirmation email?
Phil @ Apr 24th 2008 1:15PM
Yep, three of em.
Tristan @ Apr 24th 2008 12:56PM
lol why is WiiFanboy plastered all over the image, lol.
Author X @ Apr 24th 2008 12:58PM
Oops, accidental watermark mistake!
flameofdoom666 @ Apr 24th 2008 1:24PM
I never got any! Ugh...
flameofdoom666 @ Apr 24th 2008 1:24PM
disregard this- it was for Phil.
Phil @ Apr 24th 2008 1:59PM
That's interesting. Maybe they're getting bogged down with orders all of a sudden; seems like news of this is making its way around the internet. If you don't end up getting one, I can just send ya one of the ones I don't want ;-)
flameofdoom666 @ Apr 24th 2008 3:56PM
Thanks :-)

Honestly, would it be that bad for them to send all 3 to everyone? I mean this isn't a game that will sell tons, unfortunately, and how much could it cost them to print out new covers?
Phil @ Apr 24th 2008 2:00PM
Good point. Provided they send me all three, they'll all come in separate envelopes. They could save on postage by putting all of them in one.
Ghen @ Apr 24th 2008 4:09PM
Giving people a choice is better than throwing all 3. Giving a choice implies they are worth something to where they can't give away all 3 which leads a person to think more highly of the gift.

The boxart looks cool. But, who has actually purchased and played the Okami game? I am thinking about buying it. So I am looking for recommendations. Thanks.

JK! XP Anyways!
As most people have said time and time again: If you like adventure games, this game is a MUST HAVE for your Wii library.
And that's all that's needed to be said. :)
flameofdoom666 @ Apr 24th 2008 3:59PM
It's amazing.
Not just good, but AMAZING.
Vaati @ Apr 24th 2008 3:11PM

Fullmetal Salchemist @ Apr 24th 2008 3:17PM
Hmmm.... I might do this for my PS2 version.
milan @ Apr 24th 2008 3:31PM
btw, anybody that didn't get an email from capcom right after they submitted, it could have been filtered in your junk email folder.
flameofdoom666 @ Apr 24th 2008 3:59PM
I sends to my gmail account, but not my netscape account- it is very strange.
Dustin @ Apr 25th 2008 2:05AM
Awww Man. I ordered the wrong one.
realstar @ Apr 25th 2008 9:31AM
I ordered the art. I was planning to buy the game anyway and this is an extra incentive. :)
Ninjikiran @ Apr 27th 2008 1:34AM
Okami on the Wii is such an amazing game, I did not play the PS2 version but in comparison I know the analog stick on the PS2 made the game alot more easy and monotonous. On the wii its a bit of a challenge but alot more of a rewarding and fun experience. I am not talking about graphics here which is dependent on the player wether they prefer the PS2 or vibrant Wii. Overall I am enjoying it, a good 14 hours in the game.

hmmm....I can't seem to find out where this is one Capcom's website. Can anyone give me a link? Thanks!
Elmoogle @ May 2nd 2008 1:45AM
First Capcom mails a Phoenix Wright keychain directly to my door with next day shipping, now they mail me gorgeous box art. These guys have the best customer relations department I've ever seen.
Amber @ May 21st 2008 5:25PM
This sucks. It isn't open anymore, so I cannot get one. mine has the IGN box art.
Is anyone willing to send me theirs whoever got three?
This is really crappy.
