Sega destroys the world with new RPG
Not to be outdone by The World Ends With You, Sega has announced its own apocalypse-impending RPG in the latest issue of Famitsu, World Destruction. With Masato Kato, Yasunori Mitsuda, and Kunihiko Tanaka managing the game's script, music, and character design, Image Epoch (Luminous Arc) is also working on the production, clearing up at least one of the developer's three mystery projects listed on its company site.
World Destruction will be a traditional RPG with turn-based combat and giant bosses filling up both of the system's screens. Following Blue Dragon and Inazuma Eleven's example, Sega will accompany the game's summer release with an anime starting July. Turn your Bible to the Book of Revelation and head past the post break for a glimpse at two of World Destruction's characters.

I don't know; I'm excited because it's a RPG and Sega are involved, somehow, but, based on that single piece of character art - a big assumption, I know - it looks like the kids saving the world story, again.
Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions and my worries will prove...unproven.

I'm also tried of that plot-line, which is the soul reason why I have yet to pick up The World Ends With you.

Actually, the story behind The World Ends With You with not an apocalyptic one. It's the story of people caught, unwillingly, in a game. And you should pick it up cause it's a pretty good game.

Uhm, The World Ends With You has more of a 'Evil person will take over the world' story rather than 'The world will end' kind of story, even if the English title suggests otherwise.
SEGA constantly keeps bringing apocalyptic stories through just about everything it can. Hell, the last Sonic the Hedgehog game on consoles had a post-apocalyptic scene in it.
But anyway, like all new SEGA titles, I wont get excited about this until I have a demo of the game in my hands and I can test just how great/crappy it is. And given SEGA's record as of late, things don't look up for this game.

Yeah, I'm not so sure the writer of this article actually played The World Ends With You, but there's no harm done. The real harm is in this newly announced RPG; the title's terribly cliche. Looks cool, nonetheless.

Given that those three worked on Xenogears, I'm pretty excited.

the world ends with you doesn't have a very typical plot. it's pretty cool actually. as for the newly announced game, it's too early to form many opinions, but given the fact that it's an impending-apocolypse JRPG starring 2 teens you could be forgiven for assuming that it's generic.

"it looks like the kids saving the world story, again."
Nah apparently it's a kids trying to destroy the world story.
