Japan gets a chance to bag this legendary Pokemon
Japanese gamers will soon have a chance to catch the elusive Shaymin (Sheimi in Japan), a legendary Pokemon introduced in Diamond and Pearl. Unless you've been cheating, all you Pokephiles are probably drooling all over yourselves right now. The only way to catch this little guy legitimately, after all, is to get an Oak's Letter from an event sponsored by Nintendo.
Just as Darkrai was offered up to Pokemaniacs during a screening of the Darkrai-based movie, the same will be happening with Shaymin this summer for the eleventh Pokemon film (Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin). Don't fret too much if you live outside of Japan, though. Toys R Us will be offering Darkrai to shoppers during the month of June, so it's definitely possibly that Shaymin will make his way over here at some point, too.

So this means we'll get Shaymin in 2009 while the Japanese are getting their legit Arceuses....then we have to wait ANOTHER YEAR

That's the most unthreatening "monster" I've ever seen. What's he do, nibble your bum?
Tom @ Apr 22nd 2008 8:41PM
Oh no, he'd probably do something much more sinister and powerful than that....LIKE SMITE YOU......WITH KINDNESS!!!!And FLOWERS! Lots of em!
Anyways, I don't care. I'll probably get Darkrai just because he's cool looking, but this Pokemon doesn't look one bit Legendary.

And because there's no way to get it in your pokedex there's no chance of even trading a lucky Japanese person for it. Even though I'm pretty much out of the Pokemon fandom, I still remember the yearning for legit legendaries. To this day, more than seven years after it came out, I've still never been able to catch Raikou on Silver and thus am missing one pokemon from my Pokedex, even though I could have Sharked him in there at any time. The frustration must be even worse for pokemon one can only acquire at a special event. I remember all the buzz about Eon Tickets a few years ago, so I suppose this is kind of like that again.

I have one. It's... adorable. It chirps. I want to hug it.

I wish Pokemon was still popular here so the movies would be in theaters. Maybe we'd get rad Pokemon like this.

Are these as easy to hack as the Mario items in AC:WW were?
I got my Mario items from the Connection Tour, but so many people just hacked/traded hacked ones... I've heard a lot about people hacking Pokemon saves, etc...
Can you give yourself these ones?
pikelet @ Apr 23rd 2008 4:07AM
They're very easy to hack via ActionReplay. There was even a glitch in the Japanese game that let you catch both Darkrai and Shaymin. I have the Japanese ROM and can therefore exploit this glitch as many times as I want using save states, so I've been giving people semi-legit ones over WiFi for ages (with their full knowledge, plus it's easy to tell as they all have my trainer name).
