Brawl Stage of the Week: Super Mario World
Welcome to Nintendo Wii Fanboy's "Stage of the Week" feature, in which we showcase some of our favorite Smash Bros. Brawl stages. We'll have some themed weeks, some contest weeks, and some "whatever we damn well please" weeks to help you freshen up your Brawl experience.
This week's featured Brawl stage offers a generous serving of nostalgia. Although we're sure it won't be the last classic game scene that we'll showcase here, we chose this as the first because of the creativity and execution that went into it. We're not sure where the very talented Anthony got the idea to recreate Yoshi's House from Super Mario World, but it looks absolutely smashing.
Not only that, but the stage is also fun to play on. It seems simple enough, but the multiple platforms and tiers add some variety and depth. You don't have to take our word for it, though, since you can download it for yourselves here. (Instructions for playing on the stage are located after the break!)
If you want to see one of your favorite fan-made stages (or one of your own creations!) featured here, be sure to email it as an attachment to smashsubs@nintendowiifanboy.com. From the hard, to the ridiculous, to the incredibly awesome, to the even more ridiculous, we want to see them all!
Note: Sorry for the noticeable photoshopping -- unfortunately, the Brawl camera doesn't allow you to take big enough pictures. Image credit: Anthony's site.
Instructions:
1. Download the file
2. Save it to an SD card in the following location:
4. During the stage selection, click "Melee Stages" in the bottom-right corner
5. Then click "Custom Stages" in the bottom-right corner and choose the custom stage you want to play on (this particular stage is called "SMW-YOSHI")
Still don't get it? Not sure how to send in your own creation? Other questions on the stage feature? Just email smashsubs@nintendowiifanboy.com.

Cool, I was hoping the Stage of the Week feature would start soon. I'll have to give it a try later on today! I like the non-literal use of the stage parts (e.g. ladders to represent tree trunks). I tend to have trouble thinking abstractly with my own stage creations thus far.
David Hinkle @ Apr 22nd 2008 4:56PM
LOL, R.O.B is the last cylon. IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!

Puts a whole new twist to his SSE role doesn't it?
Ok not really.

I like this one a lot, too. Last week's had me worried.
Charles @ Apr 22nd 2008 4:09PM
Damn! I have an SD card with no SD card reader! I know it may sound stupid but the card used to be for my mobile phone, so back then, I didn't need the reader, now I sure as hell do!
Donald @ Apr 22nd 2008 4:46PM
Do you still have the phone in question, and does it show up as a hard drive when you plug it in?
Alternatively, you can get a SD reader on Amazon for about US$12.
Charles @ Apr 23rd 2008 1:11AM
I do have the phone in question, but it's kinda... well... Busted... I dunno, I guess I'll give it a shot...

Now there's a custom stage i could get into
This is the sort of thing i was looking for, recreations of areas from older side-scrollers
Now someone needs to rebuild every stage from the original Smash Bros

I remade Peach's Castle! :D
I'll try to send it in.
Gewurztraminer says: R.O.B. is the last Cylon! @ Apr 22nd 2008 7:09PM
That's a great idea!
I don't remember what they look like anymore!
(thank goodness for Google)

I have my N64 and Wii hooked up. I compared straight from the stage.
I added a point to make it resemble the Castle more that you can walk on though.
SoshiKitai @ Apr 22nd 2008 4:42PM
Hey, Nintendo Wii Fanboy... I sent you a question (about stages) to the email you guys gave us.
It's been a week... any answer yet? :(
Candace Savino @ Apr 22nd 2008 4:49PM
Sorry, I got boggled down by the stage demo-ing. Expect an answer later today!
David Hinkle @ Apr 22nd 2008 4:59PM
Keep in mind, though, that sending in direct questions to the email for this feature won't net you better results than just sending it in via the comments link.
http://nintendo.joystiq.com/contact/comments/
Sending in to there pretty much guarantees you a speedy reply. Hope that helps!
SoshiKitai @ Apr 22nd 2008 5:03PM
:) Hey thanks!!
I know how busy you guys are, sorry for the nag.
But I'll go through the link as well! Thanks! :D
The Doctor @ Apr 22nd 2008 11:15PM
Thanks for including the overall picture, for those of us who don't have sd cards!
GenoBoost @ Apr 22nd 2008 11:32PM
Thanks Wii Fanboy for choosing my stage! It's an honor! Also thanks RupeeClock for letting me know about that warpstar glitch, it'll come in handy!
Glad eveyone enjoys the level I made!
