Wii Shop Channel down for maintenance [update]

Update: Looks like the Wii Shop Channel is back up and running fine.

Imagine our surprise when going online to check out this week's Virtual Console releases, anxious to try the game you all are undoubtedly looking forward to, when we see this screen. For shame, Nintendo, to play with our emotions and expectations. We need this game, so let us have it already!

No word on when the maintenance will be over, but we'll keep checking it. If you notice before us, be sure to toss us a tip.

Not sure if it is down for everyone. I downloaded RCR today at around 12.45 Eastern. Perhaps it went down after that.

Same here. It did force me to update, but that might be because I haven't been in the Wii shop for over 4+months, or the fact that my Wii hasn't been turned on in the past month.

..... Hey, you work on 3+ projects at a time and see if you have time for any console gaming!! Thank goodness for my DS and PSP or I would be totally gameless these past few months.

I DLed RCR immediately at noon, and got it fine.

I'm surprised what with the previous releases of crap games that they didn't opt to do the update then. But then again, it could be a WiiWare thing. You never know.

The last time it went down for maintenance was when the Gifting feature was released. ;)

Though with WiiWare out in less than 3 weeks, Im guessing it's WiiWare related.
Though the last Wii Shop update for WiiWare was an actual update...

Well, yes, A WiiWare update has to be done on the firmware side and the server side

Why they did them separately, i don't know though

Just a suggestion, I know it really has no relavance to this topic but since I'm waiting...
...I visit your site daily via solely the wii and thought it might be a suggestion for you to perhaps post videos that are compatible with Opera because more often than not, I can't watch your clips.
Anywho, just thought I'd toss that one out there. Keep up the good work.
Hopefully the store's back by now.
