RIP: Smash Bros. Dojo
The Smash Bros. Dojo has been with us for so long, offering daily glimpses into one of the Wii's most anticipated titles, but as of yesterday, the blog is no longer updating. Where will we turn now for our daily fix? Oh, we could play the game, sure (at least, those of us not in Europe; sorry, folks), but Masahiro Sakurai's informative, enthusiastic posts gave us the tools we needed to succeed and grow as people (and, uh, players). It's like losing a friend. In honor of our months with the dojo, the Wii Fanboy staff got together and prepared a gallery collecting some of our favorite reveals, so that we can relive the experience one last time. Can someone pass the tissue? We're having a moment here.

*Sigh* I can totally relate to your pain, even having the game since may 19th, I was still a regular on the Dojo. I look forward to meticulously and painstakingly reviewing every single point that was updated on the Dojo. It'll be alright! *sob* Why won't you come back??!! I love you!!

:( Goodbye Smash Bros. Dojo. It's been amazing.
I remember first visiting your site in the middle of the night... and falling in love with it for the beloved daily updates... lots of "ooh"s and "ah"s... lots of "awesome!"s and "that's coo"s...
This one's for you.

Aye, no other website so monopolized the hearts and minds of Nintendo fanboys everywhere, it held our attention like no other before
And it ended nicely, that last post of all the little easter eggs and tidbits work so well

My favorite reveal was before the DOJO existed. The initial footage of the game which cut to a Codec transmission between the Colonel and Solid Snake. At first I just thought that the video file I was viewing had been spliced together with some MGS ad and was almost annoyed, yet interested because I like MGS. Who would have thought Snake in Brawl?
Anyway, love the DOJO. Good times.

You and pretty much everyone else who watched that video back in its earliest days
Figured Konami was on right after Nintendo was, only those who knew how desperately Kojima had wanted Snake to be in Melee could've seen this coming

I remember the day that video was released. I was in school, and every chance every person I know got they headed down to the computer lab to watch that video over and over and over again.

Best update ever: YOU MUST RECOVER!
You know its true.
Now, let us pay attention to the wording of the final update. Sakurai says that if he has something he needs to tell us in the future, he will be updating the Dojo again.
Also, in the ign interview, he said he would not be releasing DLC for Brawl because of the Wii's lack of a harddrive.
Now, WiiWare is about to release everywhere, which will be sure to eat up a ton of memory.
This means that it is increasingly likely for Nintendo to release a hardrive.
Sakurai probably knows this.
Let's put all of that together.

Let's sing a song with an appropriate sounding title! I'll start:
"JUST A SMALL TOWN GIRL,
LIVING IN A LONELY WORLD,
SHE TOOK THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN GOING
AN-Y-WHERE"
SoshiKitai @ Apr 16th 2008 12:00AM
JUST A SMALL TOWN BOY!!
BORN AND RAISED IN SOUTH DETROO~IT!!
HE TOOK THE MIDNIGHT TRAIN~
GOIN' ANY~YYYWHEERRREE!!!
...man, I loved that song when I first heard it. I have yet to karaoke it in a bar... but I will soon. (with me and my gf's anniversary comin' up, I'm hopin' the karaoke bar we'll be going to will have this song)
SoshiKitai @ Apr 16th 2008 1:16AM

Oh dear god, you interrupted "Don't Stop Believing"!!! Do you know what anticlimaxes like that DO to the fabric of our universe? THEY MAKE IT CRY.
hvnlysoldr @ Apr 16th 2008 1:54PM
Meowth that's right!
The Doctor @ Apr 16th 2008 9:51PM
I will *never* stop believing. Ok, maybe if Smash bros 4 is released and brawl still has no dlc, I might stop. But not until then.
