Brawl Stage of the Week: Joystiq edition

Welcome to Nintendo Wii Fanboy's "Stage of the Week" feature, in which we showcase some of our favorite Smash Bros. Brawl stages. We'll have some themed weeks, some contest weeks, and some "whatever we damn well please" weeks to help you freshen up your Brawl experience.
Before you ask, the answer is no -- we're not going to propose to you. We're in love with ourselves too much to do anything like that, which is why the stage we're showcasing this week is all about narcissism.
If you look closely at the stage pictured above, you can see that it spells out the name of our mother site, Joystiq. Now, that's not to say we picked this stage because we'd be totally fired if we didn't (just play along, folks). Yet, despite our evil Joystiq overlords, we just love the idea of our favorite gaming blog (besides this one and this one) invading our brawls.
Awesome name-in-the-stage stuff aside, though, the level is pretty basic. There are a few falling boxes and moving platforms, but nothing that you Smash Bros. pros couldn't handle. Still, we have to give credit to James Ransom-Wiley for creating this amazing display of self love.
To try out the stage for yourself, just download it here. Once you've done that, you can check out our instructions (posted after the break) if you need help playing it on your Wii.
Of course, this is just week one, and there will be many more stage features to come. We'd very much like to see some of your contributions and suggestions, so send them in to smashsubs@nintendowiifanboy.com. From the hard, to the ridiculous, to the incredibly awesome, to the even more ridiculous, make sure to show us your favorites (and your own creations)!

We need a best-stage competition during Game Nights (you know, us fully trying out the stages and rating them)... :) I'd SO submit my stages for that.
But this be cool, too! It's a bit hard to read, but it's awesome.

If David Hinkle will add me on his Wii(He's on my Brawl FC list already and my computer is broken), I'll send him my WiiFanboy stage to show you guys!(I'll track his Wii FC down if it's on WiiFanboy)

While I appreciate it (I'll add you at the next Game Night), it's better to submit your Brawl stages to the email set up for it:

Oh, it will be for at least another 4-5 years, we also need a stage where all of the bottom are spikes in which you never die unless you get KO'd by rocketing towards the ceiling.
SoshiKitai @ Apr 15th 2008 3:10PM
You mean like,
Wall-stages: where there's just walls on the side and spikes on the bottom
Or
Bottle-stages: Where walls cover every corner of the stage, except leave one hole open at the top, of which a rare shoot-out can KO a person
?
I prefer bottle-stages, with a falling-platform covering the bottle-nose... that way, the only way being shot out, is if an item (or a revived person) opens the bottle-nose.
...but though I prefer that stage over the other one, I don't prefer those kind of stages. :P
Candace Savino @ Apr 15th 2008 3:11PM
Well, make them and sub 'em, fellas ;)
TheWarlock @ Apr 15th 2008 4:00PM
I rather enjoyed the first suggestion that you gave where the only way to die is to get randomly shot out through the hole in the roof Soshi. Also, wanna start our own blog?
DiddlyKong @ Apr 15th 2008 3:44PM
This stage sucks brawls. J/k Good job.
iveo @ Apr 15th 2008 3:53PM
meh.... Can you highlight playable stages? So many stages online are all pits with spikes... they suck.
Im sure someone can come up with a very good stage that could have been implemented into the game.
sn1per @ Apr 15th 2008 4:13PM
That made me think... Nintendo should make a channel for Brawl that's kinda like the check mii out channel, where you could submit stages, and they could have different themed stage creation contests.

(sorry, couldn't resist)
Makalu @ Apr 15th 2008 9:34PM
It's funny what the stage creator lets you get away with. My friend built a stage where you can't get KO'd. It's entirely enclosed, and you respawn inside of it. Only good for stamina matches.
Soiden @ Apr 15th 2008 11:12PM
Or Coin Battles, I made one like that.
Maybe I'll send my stages, I've made a few, and uploaded them to IGN.
TheOverlord#2(Toon Link FTW)(1461-5875-9923) @ Apr 16th 2008 5:04PM
I read in NP that if you make a box and put spikes on top, it'll drop you in the box
Makalu @ Apr 16th 2008 9:09PM
@TheOverlord#2
Yep. The game won't put you anywhere spikes are below you.

Is it possible in future Brawl Stage of the Weeks to include a pic in the gallery of the stage in the stage editor, for those of us who don't have an sd card?
josh @ Apr 18th 2008 10:36AM
ok so i have an sd card but im i suppose to find the file on it when its in my comp and send that via email or a pic?
Candace Savino @ Apr 18th 2008 12:30PM
Send the file (it should end with .bin), please, so that I can play on your stage :).
Assuming you have the US version of the game, the file will be located here in your SD card: \private\wii\app\RSBE\st\FILENAMEHERE.bin
Just send that .bin file as an attachment to smashsubs@nintendowiifanboy.com. If you still need more clarification, let me know!
