Wii Wheel MSRP not $15, after all
If you were worried that you'd have to give up your first-born child (which we at Nintendo Wii Fanboy calculate is worth about $15) for the Wii Wheel, we have some reassuring news. Although GameStop recently posted an ad which gave us the impression that the Wii Wheel would retail for $14.99, Nintendo Power has us thinking differently. According to the scan seen above, the wheel's MSRP will actually be five dollars less, costing a more reasonable $9.99.
So, if you're planning on getting a few extra of these, we recommend doing so at stores that don't charge above the suggested retail price.
[Thanks, Sn1per!]

had to buy a zapper at gamestop (had a gift card) and it was $25 instead of $20 like it is everywhere else. i stay away from purchasing anything from gamestop now.
Timdogg @ Apr 7th 2008 4:24PM
At that price I would consider a second if I like it enough.

Huh, slightly less offensive

I'm waiting for a third-party to make the same thing much cheaper; I'd even consider purchasing something like that dirt-cheap on eBay. I *may* purchase an extra, like how I have 2 GC controllers for Brawl, one for me and one for a friend.

i got a ghetto wheel from 5 below for $5 bux, but its not that good. i think ill just buy a 2nd one when i get the game, and have 2 of the official ones (im a nintendo accessory whore)

It's still $14.99 on Amazon. I hope the price drops so I can get one for my better half.

It probably will drop at gamestop. otherwise, Play N' trade for me!

Hooray! Now you guys can keep one third of your child! I recommend the head and shoulders, because then you can wire his/her brain to a robotic chassis of your design. Then, when s/he takes over the world with his/her literally iron fists, hopefully s/he will thank you for his/her superpowers, and not crush you for revenge.

Whoo hoo?
Why does plastic cost $10...must be cause it's wheel shaped!
Brento @ Apr 7th 2008 7:01PM
Im going to make my own Wii Wheel. I'll take two paper plates, glue them around the seams, then cut out a place for the controller.
Ben @ Apr 8th 2008 1:57AM
They really need to focus on their formula for the wii itself: cheap and fun. If they made the rings of plastic that cost 30 cents to make (at most), cost 5 dollars for the end user, kids would buy them in droves. Instead, they cost 10 bucks and relegate the wii wheel to be purchased by die hards and the parents of their 6 year old whining non-stop.
Lars @ Apr 7th 2008 7:47PM
Anyone else think these wheel shells are retarded? I mean, just hold the damn controller sideways... how hard is that?!
Perverted @ Apr 7th 2008 9:00PM
One of the most expensive bits of nothing I'd likely not buy.
I also hope for those(I'm sure there are some) that buy this in the UK I hope it's £5....
Matt B @ Apr 7th 2008 10:04PM
I'd buy it for $10 bucks. Sure its just plastic- but well design plastic to act as a wheel. Yeah, I could just hold the Wiimote sideways, but I think this will enhance the experience (and honestly make it easier to steer).
racecar @ Apr 8th 2008 8:57AM
That's weird. The distributor for the store I work at says the "Estimated Retail Price" should be $14.99.

if you'll remember, there were several from the original post on this that predicted that actual price point would be $9.99.
I also think this is a very intelligent price point "capatalistically" speaking.....at 10 bucks, it becomes a feasible impulse buy for either gamers with jobs or parents buying something for their kids.

Gamestop has a tendency of selling accessories higher than the MSRP. In other words, they like to rip people off.
The wheel has a very nice feel to it, it's less than a pound in weight but it feels very sturdy. And, its extremly easy to place the wii remote in the wheel. Its worth buying it at $10, not at $15.
