Famitsu causes worry over Oboro Muramasa Youtouden
Normally we can't wait for Wednesdays, the day that our fellow gaming brethren report all the juicy tidbits from the latest issue of Famitsu. This week was different, though, because we found out that a game we've been looking forward to might be in trouble.
According to the magazine, Vanillaware's Oboro Muramasa Youtouden is "struggling," making us super sad pandas. Not only does the game look gorgeous with its beautiful 2D sprites and atmospheres, but also -- well, actually, now that we think about it, we don't know much about this title other than how it looks. And, considering that we haven't seen any new information or media since last fall, we're not too surprised that it might be in danger of falling by the wayside. Keep in mind, though, that we don't know exactly what this "struggling" pertains to, so it may not be as scary as we think. Until further details are released, we'll just have to hope for the best.
In other Famitsu news, King Story seems to be doing well and should release in Japan this summer, showing that at least one game we're excited about is on track.

I'm not sure what struggling could mean either... But I doubt it's anything big.
I'd say the biggest problem I've noticed with Vanillaware's games are two things, pushing the console to its limits (not REALLY a problem) and difficulty (VERY big problem.)
There were bosses in Odin Sphere I spent 20 tries trying to defeat and oh god did it get boring as hell afterwards... At least the level design of OMY looks significantly different and might mean fighting enemies/bosses are different as well.
And of course, I have no fear on the graphics end. The Wii can handle quite a bit and it takes a good set of challenge to get Brawl to slow down even a bit (Of course, I'm talking something akin to having like... 9 smart bombs on the stage and blowing them all up at once while I have something perform their down+b move. :P)

I was really looking forward to this game, so I hope it's not struggling too bad.

I want this game! (it better not die) I liked the difficulty level in Odin Sphere. (Too many games nowadays hold your hand)
So many baby gamers. Ugh.

Baby gamers? I think it's not being a baby when I lose to every single FINAL boss fight at least TEN times before finally beating him.
The game has a bit of an unfair set up that EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY FINAL BOSS, meaning all epilogue bosses, were required a couple hours of hunting down items, setting up for the fight, getting EXP to a proper level and THEN fighting.
It wasn't something that made me hate the game but I'll be damned if I didn't glare in frustration after the first 5 or so times that I'd lose with having only cleared 1/4th or 1/2 of the boss's health.

The best looking 2D side-scrolling action game since Metal Slug and Contra and it's "struggling"? Whatever that means, maybe their playtesters ran out of soda or something.
I agree to many of my co-posters here if I say: I WANT THIS GAME, BAD!
