Zelda movie trailer whips internet into a frenzy
Ah, IGN, you very nearly had us. Your trailer for a movie based on The Legend of Zelda almost -- almost -- pulled the wool over our young, naive eyes. In fact, this is probably the most impressive, sophisticated April Fools' prank we've witnessed for some time. What gave it away? Well, there's a sliiightly budget feel to some of this. Truth be told, we've seen more convincing Ganons at cosplay conventions, while some of the acting pretty much redefined "hammy."*
Goofy as it is, this is still darn excellent, and certainly more impressive than anything we could ever hope to cook up. So, let's see a show of hands: how many of you would queue around the block for tickets to this?
* Not that this prevented the Lord of the Rings trilogy from being taken seriously. Yes, yours truly is the only individual in the known universe not to enjoy that overwrought, nine-hour bore-fest.

Troll sighting: Lord of the Rings... overwrought, nine-hour bore-fest.
AnOffday @ Apr 1st 2008 12:41PM
Holy crap. This looks awesome. I'm actually really disappointed that this is a joke.
ArmorForVictor @ Apr 1st 2008 5:52PM
yes IGN is evil. on a side note i wonder how much it cost IGN to do this all in favor of breaking every nintendo fanboy's heart.
Fululian @ Apr 1st 2008 12:48PM
Ah and you noticed the sample of the weapon's clinging in the middle of the trailer - courtesy of warcraft II ?
cosmo2389 @ Apr 1st 2008 12:52PM
Oh... Wow, LOTR bored me to sleep as well... It was just...so...boring!!!!
As for the trailer Ganondorf does look, well, awfully cheesy and Link, on last check, has dirty blonde hair... Also all of the IGN labels didn't aid in it looking any more real...
But it was pretty good looking and the article's title almost had me fooled until I remembered it was April 1st, haha!

Ok, I hate April's Fools... STOP PLAYING WITH MY HEART!
TigerC10 @ Apr 1st 2008 1:01PM
This "trailer" has been around for years. It was a fan project.
zelderman @ Apr 1st 2008 1:52PM
wrong, diferent project. That was homemade, this was made by a real studio, just the movie won't be real.
Dash @ Apr 1st 2008 1:01PM
Next April 1st joke: A Mario movie with real actors in a modern city.....wait, that is (sadly) not a joke.....
Jay @ Apr 1st 2008 4:00PM
It would probably be an OK movie, but as an april fools joke this was amazing.
There's just one glaring innaccuracy....Link is NOT right handed
Pie Pants @ Apr 1st 2008 6:39PM
Actually, he is right handed, but only in Twilight Princess, and only on the Wii version. :P
John B. @ Apr 1st 2008 8:41PM
Link shall never be right handed. He was only that way in TP Wii because of technical reasons.
Mike @ Apr 1st 2008 4:50PM
You're not the only one. I, as well, think the LOtR movies are a bore-fest.
Mooga @ Apr 1st 2008 11:25PM
Hey, it's better then the TV series. I still can't get more then 10 min in without smashing the TV to save my own life...
manaman @ Apr 1st 2008 11:44PM
Ahhhhhh! All these LotR movie haters! I must shield myself. I will go in the other room and watch the trailer for that awesome new "Zelda" movie that's coming out! . . . Oh, wait. Dang. :(
ultima_omega @ Apr 2nd 2008 7:52AM
LOL that was lame. Link looks like a fool in that outfit. Thank god this is a joke.
Johnny @ Apr 2nd 2008 8:13AM
You may all mock and say it's an obvious fake, but if Zelda had been made by Uwe Boll, a man responsible for many genuine feature length game to movie adaptations, it wouldn't have looked as good as this.
The Theory @ Apr 2nd 2008 6:46PM
I was a LotR enjoyer-turned-hater. Oneday I was watching the DVD and suddenly realized that I never, ever want to see those bloody movies ever again.
Christie @ Apr 3rd 2008 12:16AM
LOTR suxxxx. I was forced to see them all in the theaters with so-called friends. I almost suffocated myself with my giant popcorn bucket from boredom.
LMFAO I would most definitely see a Zelda movie if it came out! Why won't they make one!! ;-;
Aluvendale @ Apr 3rd 2008 2:24PM
I'm so glad this is fake. It would probably destroy my love of the Zelda franchise. I could see an animated film working, but this is just ridiculous!
