GameStop to stop taking Game Boys
Are you looking to finally unload your Game Boy, Game Boy Color, or any accompanying games? We'd suggest doing so sooner rather than later, because in a few days it will be too late (at GameStop, at least). As it turns out, the games retailer will no longer be taking these trade-ins as of April 7th. If you own these systems, though, there's a good chance that you either a) sold them a long time ago or b) have no plans to ever sell them, so we're sure this is a non-issue, for the most part. Still, this makes us feel old.

Yeah, I'm keeping my pikachu edition gameboy color 4everz. Since the only other system I have is a DS, I gotta get my silver and yellow and blue on, ya know?

Who cares? I'm guessing you'd get about 3 bucks tops for one.
Hafk @ Mar 31st 2008 7:17PM
3 bucks tops for something that is priceless.
To the man who is offering his bundle of joy for 3 bucks, I want to meet him.

3 dollars is probably an overestimate. I tried trading in my Dreamcast about 4 years after it came out (I have since seen the errors of my ways) and they offered me 10 dollars for it, and less than 10 cents for each game. I know Game Boys are more popular than Dreamcasts, but the original Game Boy has been out for 18 years now, and the GBC has been out for 10 years.

I'm not saying that's all they're worth. I loved my Gameboy. I'm saying that Gamestop sucks, and gives you next to nothing for trade ins.

This had better mean that they're going to liquidate their stocks of GB/GBC games for next to nothing. I've seen plenty that I've wanted behind those little glass cases but not for $10+ a pop.
HellsHammer @ Apr 1st 2008 2:40AM
I hope. last I checked, DKC 1 was $25. Used!
Crazyness.
squirrelmonger @ Mar 31st 2008 8:28PM
They already did. I tried trading some GBC stuff in a while ago and got turned away.

That's right! I still have my Gameboy Color. I haven't played that really since I got my Gameboy Advance. I haven't played with that since I got my Gameboy Advance SP. And...blah, blah, blah...since I got my DS. But I haven't wasted my money on getting a marginally better DS Lite.
SHOOTAN GAEMS @ Apr 2nd 2008 9:24PM
This just in, Gamestop are a bunch of assholes who don't support older systems!
HOLY PENIS WHAT A SCOOP!
