Whenever we post about
the success of a
Resident Evil game on the Wii, usually a handful of folks will mention that they wish
Resident Evil 5 was coming to Nintendo's console. To see if this was the majority's opinion, we figured that we'd bring up the question in a
Wii Warm Up. So, what say you, unruly mob? Do you want
Resident Evil 5 on your Wiis? And would you buy the Wii version (advantage: point and shoot) over the PS3 or 360 versions (advantage: oh-so-pretty)?

yes the wii,we dont know how far graphics wise they can push this game on the wii,i really think it will still look good on the wii no matter what, people keep saying its 2 gamecubes, well then its double the graphics power then if that is the case....its still a new machine and hasnt seen its full potential yet...
NvM @ Mar 29th 2008 10:54AM
As much as I liked RE4:Wii Edition's controls, I would not buy the Wii version of Re4 over the 360 one.
LiqwidZero @ Mar 31st 2008 10:44AM
Same here.
The Wii is better suited for arcade titles, such as House of The Dead (I love House of The Dead!), in my opinion.
brian @ Mar 29th 2008 10:56AM
Give it to me! I want it on the Wii! Let me use the perfect shot on it! I don't own another next-gen console, so it needs to be on the Wii for me.
CCXXII @ Apr 1st 2008 7:49AM
Agreed. RE 4 was better on the Gamecube than it was on the PS2, and the Wii's controls will definitely be better than those of the other consoles.
Roto13 @ Mar 29th 2008 11:01AM
Well, if I was going to buy a version of RE5, I'd probably go for the non-existent Wii version because pointing to shoot is a zillion times better than using a control stick.
That said, the fact that there's no Wii version in the works doesn't bother me at all. :P
Mike. H. @ Mar 29th 2008 11:09AM
I like to think RE5 will come to Wii. Capcom will do what they did with RE4 and the GC; at the very last second announce it for the PS2.
I have heard that RE5 is possible on the Wii, as it runs on the same engine RE4 does but with beefed up graphics, (so like the PS2 with RE4) the wii version will just have downgraded graphics.
Oh, and to answer the question, yes I would buy the Wii version.
ThekonamiMan @ Mar 29th 2008 11:07AM
I wouldn't buy the Wii one because I don't like the point and shoot controls, I'll stick with my plans to get it for PS3.
ArmorForVictor @ Mar 29th 2008 1:42PM
yeah i'm sticking with the ps3 version too. also the main thing about re5 now is the real time light adjustment thing. like your out in the sun and then walk in a dark room and you see nothing for awhile, but then your eyes adjust to the dark. can the wii handle that? here's some video of that http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/03/26/catch-a-few-glimpses-at-resident-evil-5-in-this-video/
ArmorForVictor @ Mar 29th 2008 1:57PM

angelbabe531 @ Mar 29th 2008 9:09PM
EB/Gamestop have had those for like 3 weeks. They're great. My boyfriend got me a bullet bill one for my car dashboard ^_^
ArmorForVictor @ Mar 29th 2008 10:51PM
what really? i didn't even know that since i hardly ever go to gamestop because i hate being asked if i want to preorder something. i'll be getting mario, luigi, and yoshi tomorrow :)
xtremuuuu @ Mar 29th 2008 11:14AM
Hm, as much as I'd like to play RE5, I don't think x360 or ps3 games should be ported to the wii, basically because they turn out to be dumbed down ports of the game, with graphic glitches/bad framerate, etc.
Also, I suppose the environments are a big factor in the first HD/next-gen RE.
vidGuy @ Mar 29th 2008 11:21AM
I loved the RE4 controls, but I'll be getting RE5 on the 360 whether or not a version is released on Wii. I like to get games in versions that are either the original design or better, not downgraded as we know a Wii RE5 would have to be.
chelosera91 @ Mar 29th 2008 11:23AM
of course I would buy it for the Wii, point and shoot ----------> graphics IMO
Tyler @ Mar 29th 2008 11:32AM
Seeing how there is literally no way to see RE5 on the Wii, I'm simply concerned about Capcom's OTHER releases on the Wii. I'm a simple guy, so even if they released the N64 version of RE2 on the VC I'd be eternally grateful.
Dave T @ Mar 29th 2008 11:34AM
I played RE4 on the PC, the gamecube, and the Wii and the Wii version is by far the superior version. The controls feel much more natural and it definitely immerses you in the game, rather than fidgeting with a joypad trying to line up a shot.
dannybuoy @ Mar 29th 2008 11:52AM
where do I begin. I'm devastated that there is no RE5 on the wii planned. Devastated. I'd buy it in a milisecond. Maybe faster. I'm even thinking about getting a PS3 for RE5 alone. I don't want to turn to the dark side but I might be forced to do so if Capcom don't come to my rescue. Aiming on the wii was amazing. Never experienced aiming like it in a game. Analogue sticks just feel so awkward and regressive after ising the remote. Please! RE5 ON THE WII!! PLEASE!!!!!!!
Carmen @ Mar 29th 2008 10:52PM
There WILL be a Wii version of RE5, I guarantee it. There are no exclusivity rights to only have the game on the 360 and the Ps3. In order to maximize profits Capcom will port the game over to the Wii after the other versions have been released. It's common sense; it costs a lot of money to produce a game like RE5. After the game is completed for the other consoles, the additional cost of porting the game over to the Wii is nothing compared to the money that it will bring in. Capcom would be dumb not to bring RE5 over to the Wii, and they didn't become of the top videogame companies in the world from making dumb decisions.
xtremuuuu @ Mar 30th 2008 12:28PM
Hehe. Don't refer the PS3 as the dark side, it actually offers superior online capabilties and a different range of games, complementing the Wii library.
btw, I don't have a PS3. :)
Mitsu @ Mar 29th 2008 11:55AM
I never liked the pointing with a stick on the PS2 version of RE4, but the Wii controll rocks for shooting.
Definitely I would get the Wii version, I don't want to play Resident Evil 5 with a stick controlled pointer, on the Wii it will feel natural.
By the way, looks like a lot of people want this game on Wii, check out the petition:
http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?WiiRes5
KidSqueek @ Mar 29th 2008 11:59AM
Although I love my Wii, RE5 wouldn't be as great on it because of graphical problems, unless they make it using another engine compared to the one they are using for the ps3 and 360. So it would be like one game but two different projects. But yeah, I think I would pass on the Wii version because I'll just end up getting the ps3 version.
charles @ Apr 19th 2008 12:16PM
I would absolutely buy the Wii version. RE4 with Wii controlls plays so nice that I'd have to play 5 the same way.
TheOverlord#2 (will beat you with Toon Link!)(1461-5875-9923) @ Mar 29th 2008 12:15PM
I would if it wasn't M-rated xD
I would buy it on Wii cause I don't have enough money for a 360 or PS3.
hvnlysoldr @ Mar 29th 2008 12:17PM
I'd definitely buy the Wii version of RE5.
Crazylink @ Mar 29th 2008 12:22PM
Hell yeah, RE4 looks nice enough for me.
Erik @ Mar 29th 2008 12:29PM
I liked wii controls like most did. But, I like the more hectic feel of aiming with just the laser sight. So, even if the wii got RE5, I would get it on 360 or PS3. That, and the wii probably couldn't handle some of the things rights. Even though nintendo thought it would be a good idea going the low tech route, I don't. Big games need more power. We aren't all 5 or 60 year olds distracted by colors and minigames like nintendo thought. So, I need better environments and sounds. So no wii version for me.
Polecat @ Mar 29th 2008 12:33PM
How would buying RE5 on the Wii(volution) NOT be a good idea? I mean people bought the PS2 version of RE4 despite dumbed down graphics, and the main draw was because it was on a more popular system. Wii IS the most popular system right now, strangers who hear I have one try to engage in conversation with me JUST to hear more about the Wii. As far as owning the most graphically advanced versions of the RE games, sorry, I never bought the DC or the GCN versions of most of the old RE games ( literally, I bought RE1 on PSX, RE2 on N64, somehow completely missed Nemesis, Code Veronica on DC, never touched the GBC boat thing (or shooting games)REmake on GCN, RE4 on PS2 though I did rent the GCN ver the Ps2 version happened to be better for my wallet at the time then traded that for RE4 Wii).
Given Capcom's track record for producing product on Nintendo systems that make the majority others that are available look like donkey crap, I think they could make an RE5 for the Wii that wouldn't feel like a watered down port so much as a control adaption. I mean who thought (seriously) that the GCN was even CAPABLE of making games as absolutely STUNNING as REmake and RE4? Hell, if for some reason you HAVEN't played it, go do yourself a favor and buy the REmake/RE0 two pack and marvel at the absolute BEAUTY of those two games. They're both Wii compatible and probably could be had for a steal.
erm..... also YES, I would totally buy RE5 Wii, not be bothered with other versions unless absolutely needed.
benmully @ Mar 29th 2008 1:03PM
I thoroughly enjoyed RE4 Wiimake, and would luv to play RE5 on Wii with sacrifice in graphics.
jughead789 @ Mar 29th 2008 1:14PM
No question would be a definite buy for me
Sonic_13 @ Mar 29th 2008 1:22PM
I would buy RE5 on Wii in an instant.
Many people doubt the graphical capabilities of Wii, but it is a very capable machine. Resident Evil 4's graphics were stunning on GameCube, yet Wii can go above and beyond GameCube.
The most significant gap between the graphics of Wii and the other systems comes from the fact Wii has no HD. The gap isn't as large when comparing standard-def graphics.
samfish (Brawl: 2793 0291 2277) @ Mar 29th 2008 1:34PM
I would buy it for the Wii, even if I owned a 360 or PS3. I was never a huge fan of the Resident Evil games, including 4, until I played the Wii version. I found them to be enjoyable, but hardly great. RE4 Wii's controls completely changed my stance on the series, though. I think it's still one of the few games that proves that motion controls CAN improve a game considerably over traditional controls.
That said, I would RATHER have an original Resident Evil game on the Wii instead of a downport. Resident Evil 4.5 or Resident Evil 6 would be nice.
Microswirl @ Mar 29th 2008 9:53PM
About that feeling of deja vu. Hehehe YOU wrote the words in that video. Way back in October.

samfish (Brawl: 2793 0291 2277) @ Mar 31st 2008 1:08AM
haha - yeah, that would explain it.
That's awesome.
Matthew @ Mar 29th 2008 1:35PM
I applaud Nintendo for being able to take RE to the heights it is at now. However this is the one time not being a juggernaut console will be detrimental to them. RE5 seems to convey so much suspense simply due to the presentation aspects, add a decent amount of gameplay with the control stick and you have another hit winner. Sadly Wii cannot match up to it graphically and playing on the Wii will always make me go, wow this could look so much better. However if there was only a Wii version, I would not complain.
cosmo2389 @ Mar 29th 2008 3:47PM
Wii all the way!! The gameplay would kick butt!
beaus27 @ Mar 29th 2008 2:05PM
I had a thought, I played and beat RE4 on the GC 3 times and loved it. Now, after playing the Wii version, I can honestly say the controls in Wii version tones down the overall difficulty of the game.
Will a RE5 verison for the Wii be anymore challenging than the PS3/360 due to the nature of the Wii controls?
Gun Barrier @ Mar 29th 2008 5:20PM
it was harder on the ps2 because the controlls were bad. imo
i never tried the gamecube one though.
imo, the wii version had bad controlls too. I wish i could straff in that game.
Nick @ Mar 29th 2008 2:36PM
I would buy a wii version in a second, and would choose it over any other version.
That being said, the fact that it's not coming to the wii will probably be what will finally make me buy a 360.
LeChuck @ Mar 29th 2008 2:34PM
My lack of having a Wii yet is the only reason I haven't played RE4. I tried playing it on PS2 but I'm one of those people that just can't aim with analog sticks right. Never managed to get a single shot off on Chainsaw Bagman before he'd slice my head off. So if RE5 were coming to Wii I'd definitely want that one more than any other version.
Chyld989 @ Mar 29th 2008 2:46PM
Would definitely buy it for the Wii, as long as it was essentially the same game. I understand that they'd probably have to dumb down the graphics some but I don't care, as I'm not a graphics whore...give me RE1 graphics and I'll be happy, as long as the game plays good.
lobotomies4free @ Mar 29th 2008 2:49PM
I would take it on wii any day. If they built it from the ground up for wii the way they did 4 for the cube it would be plenty pretty
Tom @ Mar 29th 2008 2:50PM
I'd buy it faster than a heartbeat on the Wii, buy I think it'd be better to have a new RE game only for the Wii, so there'd be no risk of it being dumbed down. But point to shoot owns analog controls any day.
CJLopez @ Mar 29th 2008 3:53PM
Well, RE4 for the Wii, i havent played, planning on getting one in the near future, the controls on the PS2 were as great as the ones on the GC version (I own bouth) and not as hard a mny around here imply.
If there was to be a RE5 for Wii, I'd definitely would buy this one, cuz this game is one of those that's pocking me for getting a PS3
Nessman @ Mar 29th 2008 4:03PM
I would rather play RE5 on my 360.. The exceptional graphics will add even more realism than the GC one could. I don't think i'll ever want to use a wii-mote for a survival horror game. It seems perfect in theory, but i feel more involved when i can wrap my hands around a controller and really get in the zone with incredible precision. The wii mote sometimes jolts around and you have to make sure there's nothing in the way of the sensor bar etc. which can take me out of the moment. Plus, the wii mote is like a real gun, but too much unlike a real gun. So for now i'm yet to be swayed to bring my FPS gaming to the wii.
Aaron @ Mar 30th 2008 8:27PM
I loved RE4's wii controls, and I would love RE5 on the wii for that reason. However, the graphics would still need to be seriously beefed up over RE4.
Still, I'm fine with RE5 on the higher-end consoles. I keep hoping Capcom will remake RE2 for Wii with RE4 gameplay and some type of co-op.
Max Headroom @ Mar 29th 2008 4:39PM
I'd buy Resident Evil 5 on Wii. RE4 was probably the best game I've played in about 10 years, so of course I really want to play its sequel, regardless of graphics. Ideally, if a Wii version doesn't release simultaneously with the others, we'll get one a few months later with an extra mission or bonus content or something.
I'm completely excited about the rumors of getting an RE2 remake using the RE4 engine for Wii, but I'd still like the actual sequel as well.
b513a @ Mar 29th 2008 6:27PM
yes yes yes yes YESSSS!!! gimme gimme.
EcnobA @ Mar 29th 2008 5:18PM
well i bet if all of us start sending e-mails to capcom asking for this game for the wii
it will probably make them think about designing an exclusive RE game for us instead of trying
to port games like okami, rock band and others. that way developers will see that there is
a demand for originality on the wii.
we have to stop complaining and wishing that games like this will come to the wii and
start taking some action like stop buying stupid ports from other consoles and make them
realize that the wii its not a quick ATM or cash machine.
if we want better games we have to make a stamen
CJLopez @ Mar 30th 2008 10:42PM
I take my hat under you commentary, you speak with truly greatfull word man
