Wiimote 'extreme' LED mod is dazzling
When we hear the word "extreme" in the title of anything, we usually assume we'll hate it. (Note: This rule of thumb is especially important when the "ex" syllable is replaced by the letter "x".) We were therefore surprised to see how utterly freaking awesome SiebenDX's "Wiimote extreme LED mod" was.
It's not even just the Wiimotes, Nunchucks, and Classic Controllers modded with LED bling that make them worth checking out, but the video itself is entertaining. While "Through the Fire and the Flames" wouldn't be our first choice at accompanying music (well, maybe it would be someone's first choice), we enjoy how the LEDs coordinate with the music. It's like watching some sort of LED-mod-meets-Guitar Hero hybrid.
Then again, maybe we're just easily amused. Ooh, look at the pretty colors!

This is the first controller which gives you epilepsy instead of the game itself. Nintendo spawns so much innovation.

Wow, that's... really quite clever. I've never been too big a fan of "jam LEDs in until it bursts" mods, but different colours for different players is pretty cool. I assume they wired the padding LEDs of each colour to go on with a particular player-LED, so when the wiimote turns on the 1st light to indicate 1st player, it's also powering all the blue LEDs, and so forth. Like I said, really quite clever.
Of course, when it blinks the power status, you'd get one to four colours, depending on the power level, blinking at once.

I'm already spending enough in batteries every month (don't you dare tell me to buy rechargeables that last for roughly an hour), I can't imagine what the additional leds would do to me.

where the hell do you get your rechagables? If you get a decent pair, they can last weeks, pop them in over night and bam, a fresh pair of batts.

I'd have to agree with Zelderman on this one. Where ARE you getting your rechargables? I got the simple Nyko recharge station and those last for quite a while.
As for the mod. How do I do this? That is awesome. The only thing they did wrong is that 3rd and 4th player are backwards, with 3rd being yellow and 4th being green.

Awesome mod, but is anyone else bored to tears with that DragonForce song?
Ghen @ Mar 26th 2008 8:25PM
no, sorry. Not until the next GH comes out.

Um, I think they put that song to it because they're actually playing the song in GH3 using two wiimotes instead of the guitar... the colors line up with the buttons you push when playing that way in GH3.
But yeah, so awesome.

We have nintendo to thank for that mod... it definitely would not be cool without the rubber covers.
