Professor Layton and the Unlocked Content [update]
Stop all the downloadin'! It turns out that Nintendo had those "downloadable" Professor Layton puzzles on the cartridge all along! When you download a puzzle, all you're downloading is an unlock code. Which isn't a big deal -- it's not like you're paying for the extra content or anything. One user figured out how to find that content in the game data, and has compiled all 162(!)
[Update: this is actually all the puzzles!]

Not all of the 162 on that page appear to be the "bonus" puzzles. Some of them I quite clearly recognize from the main storyline of the game.

So can we actually *play* all the puzzles now, or do we have to wait?
Ahrel @ Mar 22nd 2008 5:03PM
Eh, I could have told you that they were already on the cart. Where do you think it was storing this information? The game would cost a whole lot more if it could actually write megs of info to itself.

Yeah I agree-- I kind of like timed unlockables. It's like the daily stuff in brain training, or the daily quests in WoW. It's when they ship a game (Katamari on 360) WITH all of the content locked and make you pay for it that is a problem.

On thing I noticed with what's on that page. The "5 boxes to 4" match puzzle shows 3 hints. When I "downloaded" that puzzle, I'm only offered one hint. Believe me, I wanted more hints, I was completely stumped by that puzzle (my poor frazzled brain), gave up, and looked at the solution.
