I always liked the first best. Every DQ game after that hasn't really lived up to the feelings I had playing numero uno.
chris @ Mar 15th 2008 11:12AM
I think all of the games are cool, some of the ones peope say aren't that good aren't truley attempting to take thier imagination for a ride on the fun side.
Polecat @ Apr 10th 2008 12:28PM
The problem with some of the later DW/DQ gamnes is that with 2 and 3 I was cheesed at my guys constantly wiffing attacks because their target was dead and gone. didn't play another until I bought Dragon Quarter for the PS2, which while it had some improvements over the older sequels, I hated how even after hours of grinding, you still were really too weak to take on more than a few battles. (especially since healing items were absolutely scarce, and there weren't any Inns whatsoever.)
jonio @ Mar 11th 2008 11:25AM
I have to say my favorite was DQVII. Though VIII and Rocket Slime are close seconds.
ima747 @ Mar 11th 2008 11:26AM
Dragon Warrior 1. I "borrowed" it from a friend... and kinda still have it...
j5bergkamp @ Mar 11th 2008 11:27AM
Dragon Quest VIII
Spencer @ Mar 11th 2008 11:27AM
Dragon Quest VIII has to be the win
nayten @ Mar 11th 2008 11:39AM
I second the nomination of the first DW game. There was just something so great about it, playing through as a kid. It was a very unforgiving game for myself at age six. I love looking back at the game now, and realizing it was just a Japanese RPG with an American font and dialog tacked over it to make it more appealing to the DnD-types.
EndlessDark @ Mar 11th 2008 11:31AM
Dragon Quest VIII is by far the best!
Jody Anthony (Good Eats Fanboy) @ Mar 11th 2008 11:30AM
I also have to go with the first Dragon Warrior. I got it through Nintendo Power and loved it. It is one of the games that got me hooked on RPGs.
Evil Bastard @ Mar 11th 2008 11:31AM
I only played the original NES so that is my favorite one.
Mike @ Mar 11th 2008 11:43AM
the original - Dragon Warrior
gphoenix51 @ Mar 11th 2008 11:33AM
Dragon Quest IV has always been my hands down favorite. The Chapter system with the varied characters definitely was the right way to go. Taloon being my favorite chapter, it was so different than other RPG's, then and Now. Dragon Quest I would be a close second, an actual Hard game and it didn't pull any punches or apologize for it, like so many games now. I think we all remember how friggin long it took to get the money to buy the Flame Sword and Silver Shield, and how much of a difference they made in Dragon Lord's Castle.
Andy @ Mar 11th 2008 11:33AM
I've always like DQ...
ninjabot @ Mar 11th 2008 11:34AM
The first was my favorite. I remember getting my copy as a reward for subscribing to Nintendo Power. Several of my friends didn't believe me when I told them I had finished the game, so I hooked my NES up to my VCR and recorded the final boss fight. I still have that tape somewhere.
bhengh @ Mar 11th 2008 11:34AM
I've never played a DQ game before, but I'd love to start with this one.
Tristan @ Mar 11th 2008 11:34AM
Dragon Warrior Monsters II Cobi Journey was always my favorite one. I wish they would remake it for the DS, so many classic monsters.!!! GranSlime!!!
John Rios @ Mar 11th 2008 11:35AM
The very first one on the NES will always hold a special place in my heart.
Xican @ Mar 11th 2008 11:37AM
I only played the first one and the eighth one and i liked them both a lot, but I got to go with the first one because it was a lot of fun for me when I was younger.
bootstrap @ Mar 11th 2008 11:41AM
I'd have to say Dragon Warrior 4. I loved the story and the way that they introduced the characters through the individual chapters.
Dragon Warrior 3 is a close second, though.
PrinnyDood @ Mar 11th 2008 11:36AM
My favorite was 8, perfect balance of nostalgia and newness.
Brandon @ Mar 11th 2008 11:36AM
Dragon Quest VIII
Andy @ Mar 11th 2008 11:38AM
I like DQ8 the best.
nytestalker @ Mar 11th 2008 2:57PM
Never played a dragon quest game yet. I thought about buying it a couple days ago but went with brawl instead. I am a huge RPG fan though and would really appreciate a chance to play this series.
Broward @ Mar 11th 2008 11:40AM
The original copy I got with a Nintendo Power subscription when I was a kid. Free Dragon Warrior can't be beat!
Roman @ Mar 11th 2008 11:55AM
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker
I love subtitles. But seriously, it's a great game that didn't get the credit it deserved.
eugaet @ Mar 11th 2008 11:41AM
I'm going to have to say Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime...because it's the only DQ game I've played.
bunnyworld @ Mar 11th 2008 11:42AM
DQ8, huge world! Gusto!
oldschoolgamer @ Mar 11th 2008 11:43AM
Pick Me! I've never played a Dragon Quest game, but am a fan of Square.
Josh @ Mar 11th 2008 11:44AM
Its tough to choose the best, but I would have to say Dragon Warrior 3 is the best. It was a great conclusion/prequel to the Loto trilogy and it was awesome to find out that the whole time you were playing as Loto himself.
amfmac @ Mar 11th 2008 11:44AM
DQ VIII!!!
JimmyJett @ Mar 11th 2008 11:46AM
Dragon quest? What's that?
GreyCrow02 @ Mar 11th 2008 11:45AM
Dragon Quest Swords
dlc3007 @ Mar 11th 2008 11:48AM
I'm sure my favorite will be Dragon Quest Swords -- as soon as you send it to me.
jebstuart @ Mar 11th 2008 11:48AM
DQ Monsters Joker is my favorite recent one, I'd love to try one on the WII!
TheClassic @ Mar 11th 2008 11:49AM
I'd have to say Dragon Quest Swords is my favorite because I've never played any of the games, and I were to play any this would be my first.
jmorgancaldwell @ Mar 11th 2008 11:54AM
Number 1!
Phoenix Hawk @ Mar 11th 2008 11:51AM
Dragon Quest VIII
Joe @ Mar 11th 2008 11:51AM
Seeing as the only one I have played is DQ VIII I will have to say that one.
Haohmaru @ Mar 11th 2008 11:51AM
Hands down, Dragon Quest V. Out of all the DQ games, it has the deepest story IMO.
cifra @ Mar 11th 2008 11:54AM
Original Dragon Warrior, of course. Where would we be without it?
IN A WORLD WITHOUT CRPGs, THAT'S WHERE. Well, at least a world without Dragon Quest, but that's bad enough.
"Thou art dead."
SirSloppyMoose @ Mar 11th 2008 11:55AM
I'd have to go with Rocket Slime.
Saccia @ Mar 11th 2008 11:56AM
I actually REALLY enjoyed Dragon Quest VIII. I can't bring myself to sell it. Maybe this game will help me move on :-)
David @ Mar 11th 2008 12:01PM
The original Dragon Warrior for the NES!
Christopher Jones @ Mar 11th 2008 11:57AM
If I win this will be my favorite version.
RJ MacReady @ Mar 11th 2008 12:00PM
The first Dragon Warrior on the NES stands out the most to me, it was the first true RPG I ever played, and it's made me a fantasy junkie for going on 20 years now.
Timdogg @ Mar 11th 2008 12:00PM
Dragon Quest I FTW!
celticwulf @ Mar 11th 2008 12:00PM
Although I enjoyed the first one, I'd have to say DQM: Joker is hands down my favorite. I played it for over 60 hours just leveling up monsters, it was fun.
jason @ Mar 11th 2008 1:43PM
Deffinately DQ VIII
doozer @ Mar 11th 2008 12:03PM
the original dragon warrior that came with my nintendo power!!
