'Gusty Gardens' goes 8-bit, and then some
Not only is Super Mario Galaxy an excellent game, but it also sports an amazing orchestrated soundtrack. Many fans of Mario's most recent adventure have become so inspired by the soundtrack that they've already contributed their own interpretations of the game's music. Take, for instance the awesome 8-bit version of "Gusty Garden Galaxy" featured in the video above.
If you want to hear some more great Super Mario Galaxy fan mixes, though, we highly recommend this amazing guitar arrangement of "Gusty Garden" by 4CR forum user Pakl. He also did a unique (and very soothing) version of "New Egg Galaxy," which you can listen to here. We're always in awe when musicians can figure out arrangements for existing songs by ear -- an impressive feat, no doubt.
To hear more fan interpretations, check after the break for some piano versions of Galaxy's sweet tunes.

Absolutely awesome. Galaxy's music truly is one of the best collections in gaming history, right up there with Shadow of the Colossus and the like.

Kim Jaeger just posted a jazz piano trio version of the Comet Observatory theme here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzWIpJcje1M

That tears it. Between this and the SNESified Galaxy video we had a few weeks ago, Nintendo has to give us a 2D Mario Galaxy for WiiWare.

I think those little dancing things are the best part ofd the 8-bit video. What the hell's going on there?

Wow,
8-bit can sound SO good! Plus, that guitar version was wonderful. Very mellow.
Thanks for sharing,

You're right, the guitar version is wonderful. The first second, that is. After that, the guitar is out of tune. Fail. :(

Is the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack ever coming to the U.S.? I want it BAD. Are there region locks on CD players?

i found three on isohunt, but none of them had the crazy version of the chasing bunnies theme, my favorite! was that song on the japanese version of the game? i wonder why it was not included on any of the soundtracks...

When looking for music for my wedding, I stumbled on a copy of Orchestral Game Concert. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchestral_Game_Concert . So during dinner, among the jazz and classical I picked out, was Mario Brothers playing. Also, the wedding song was "Eyes on You". The nice thing, that it only seemed geeky to the people who knew what the songs were. The rest were unaware that it was 'video game' music.

As a kid I had to use a tv monitor with no or mono sound. I'm amazed on what I missed out on with these games now.
