VC Monday Madness video wrap-up 3/3/06
We appreciate the fact that we actually have a good game to play this week, but only one release? Come on, Nintendo! You spoiled us with your week after week of releasing multiple titles, only to have us completely let down today? For shame, considering that most also expected the first entry in a very good series of games to be on the VC (it did seem like a no-brainer).
Oh well, at least, like we said, the game is good.

Super Turrican (SNES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: download it!
Super Turrican has some sweet action. The running might not be as solid as the gunning, but you're murdering lots of enemies and just plain old blowing up everything in sight. If there's one thing we can appreciate about these older games, it's their basic and very appealing approach. Maybe it's a very male thing, but we can find lots of comfort in making those that would stand in our way die very fiery and very painful deaths just by hitting a button on a controller.
That concludes our look at this week's Virtual Console games. As always, if you have any tips or rumors regarding Nintendo's Virtual Console service, be sure to let us know and come back next week when we take a look at the latest titles available on the Nintendo Wii.

Nintendo, you just lost $20. The only way I was going to plunk down the money for another point card was if Smash Bros was released today, which I'd get along with Kirby 64. Next time I'll consider a point card? Long after Brawl loses my interest (which will be awhile).

I betcha anything they're not gonna release the original Smash on the 10th, either.
Sisyphus @ Mar 4th 2008 1:43AM
You could always just buy 1000 points on the VC, but only if you have a debit/credit card.

Like I said, once Brawl comes out, I don't care about the VC for awhile, so it doesn't make a difference if they release it on the 10th for me, which would be a poor sales decision the day after such a major release.
Metayoshi @ Mar 4th 2008 12:39AM
I'm surprised that they don't have either a Brawl Preview Channel like what happened for Metroid Prime 3, or Super Smash Bros. on Virtual Console this week.
David Hinkle @ Mar 4th 2008 12:52AM
When you think about it though, do they really need it? Sure, MP3 was an anticipated title, but not as highly anticipated as Brawl. MP3 had room to sell more copies, whereas expected sales for Brawl are probably hot enough to melt Donald Trump's wig.

Plus the probably needed to "prove the concept" to many people who were skeptical of the Wiimotes awesome FPS applications
I just finished my second playthrough of MP3 yesterday. Final Boss is far and away disproportionately easy compared to Prime 1 & 2's. Mogenar and Helios are the hardest bosses out of that.

It should be 3/3/08 not 3/3/06. The Wii wasn't out that early.

I guess, I'll be the first to actually comment on the video itself.
Thanks for the review, I never heard of this game until I just read the announcement, but from the videos I've seen this game looks like it's right up my alley, even the music warrants a purchase for me.
As long as a game comes out each week, I don't care how many, I'll be happy.

This game's vocieover's are worth it for the price alone.
I can't wait until Mr.Hinkle reviews Mark of the Wolves, Last Hope, Samurai Showdown V the uncut version, that would be quiet the line up of ultra neo geo titles. 2009? 2010 maybe?
That would k the neo geo collector market interesting if snk and ninty had done a monday like that!

"Gimmeh mah power-ups!"

I might download this... I really liked Super Contra back in the day. I almost didn't even check this video out but I'm a David Hinkle supporter! He makes me laugh! "Total Goober!"
But wait, at 1:30 into the video did he say:
"I wish I could just whip it out to hit guys up top."
Hmmmmm...
Adv2k1 @ Mar 4th 2008 10:01AM
looks like a fun game, but i won't play it after I pick up brawl sunday.
so are you boycotting youtube or something?
TheOverlord#2 @ Mar 4th 2008 5:20PM
Looks like Contra & Metroid together.
Also, gotta hate when the sensor bar sees a video camera and tells the game to kill you!!!
@Adv2k1
Im guessing because of quality.
The youtube vids look more washed out whereas the Daily Motion ones look more direct-feed to me.
Haohmaru @ Mar 4th 2008 5:24PM
Yeah, these look to be higher quality than the YouTube ones.
