Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the new screens
The more we see and hear about Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, the more excited we get. Not only are we craving some RPGs for the Wii (although Opoona and Baroque will be out relatively soon), but also we're happy to see how the game has improved. Tales has come a long way since its earlier screens, and we can't wait until it hits American shores.

I still don't like this whole Pokemon-style monster training thing.

Is the battle system turn based!? Say it ain't so!
jp @ Mar 2nd 2008 6:13PM
No it's not turn based. Haven't you played one of the other tales games?
I really enjoyed the one on GC.
Dustin @ Mar 2nd 2008 8:10PM
No I have played Tales on GC. But those screens look like they've changed the battle system.

I forget the exact name of it...something like Linear Motion Real-Time Battle. >.>; Basically, it's fighting on 2 dimensions with 3D graphics, though I think it's possible to change the "line" you're fighting on.
Not too sure about that; might just be my perception of things from battling a lot on the Fooji Mountains.

I don't like the monster-catchin' thing or this new art style. It makes me sad.

Still looks solid. It will be nice to have a game that uses the disc space from ample FMV, for once. Developers (3rd party and otherwise) still seem to think they're constricted to 1.5 GB
Also: I bit the bullet and am sending my Radiant Dawn disc in for replacement while Brawl consumes my attention. Just figured the resident Fire Emblem fangirl would like to know

Ah, it must have been difficult to part with it. Hopefully it won't take too long to come back! :)
Valien @ Mar 2nd 2008 10:16PM
What's wrong with Radiant Dawn? I just got the game the other day...is there some known bug on it? I love it so far but it's incredibly hard (on normal no less!) :D
Candace Savino @ Mar 2nd 2008 11:35PM
@Valien
There's nothing "wrong" with the game, so don't worry. There's just a small glitch:
One of the perks of RD is that you could transfer a game save from the GameCube's Fire Emblem, Path of Radiance, to Radiant Dawn. Doing so might give you a few stat boosts, weapon ranks boosts, or support perks depending on how you played (check here http://serenesforest.net/fe10/transfer.html for more details).
However, if you have any easy saves in Path of Radiance, the data won't transfer. So, you either have to delete your easy saves in PoR, or send in your RD disc to be fixed.
And yes, Radiant Dawn is fun but hard :D.

I'm currently replaying through the first one. Great game. My fiancee gets so bored playing it, but she enjoys watching.
And I have few qualms about the monster system. I'm hoping it's not too integrated (I don't want a Pokemon style Tales), I'll probably grab a couple monsters and be good. I do wish they kept the old style, but what can ya do? It still is ToS.

*Is in love*

If this is not turn based then it's my second most wanted Wii game....I may regret saying that but I doubt it as the 1st ToS was so damn awesome....I also like the idea of a few monsters too unleash when needed.
Ekkaia @ Mar 3rd 2008 12:28PM
What's wrong with the art style? It looks just like Symphonia.
Synch @ Mar 3rd 2008 5:46PM
Sorta. I can notice a few changes in the art style. Nothing major, but it's definately noticeable.
As for the monster system: It'll never replace my old party of Lloyd, Sheena, Raine and Kratos/Zelos.
Speaking of Kratos: COME ON! How is that canon?! (I shouldn't complain; Kratos and Zelos are essentially the same class of character.)
