Promotional Consideration: Toy soldiers

Promotional Consideration is a weekly feature about the Nintendo DS advertisements you usually flip past, change the channel on, or just tune out.
We had so much fun presenting fan-made commercials these past two weeks, we decided to create our own ad, repurposing an old page ripped from a 1970s comic book, its pages yellowed with age. Strap up your boots, grab your rifle, and report past the post break for this week's edition of Promotional Consideration!

Bombs over Photoshopped ad.
Perhaps we're being vainglorious with our work, but we've done the math, and our Days of Ruin advertisement is approximately 50 hojillion times better than the piece that was actually commissioned and appeared in magazines. Numbers don't lie, kids.
Admittedly, we didn't change much from the original page, aside from some text substitution and moving around elements. It didn't take a lot of imagination to see the Advance Wars possibilities in the army men ad.
And, of course, we would be liars of the worst order if we were to neglect mentioning another obvious source of our inspiration -- the boxart for Famicom Wars DS (Advance Wars: Dual Strike):

How creative! Just like our ad! We've created wallpaper-sized versions for you to download, if that's what you're into:
We were forced to crop the page and hack off the bottom half due to its vertical orientation, but it's still totally wizard.

That ad is absolutely fantastic! It is one Godzillion* times better than the Nintendo-approved one.
*Any number large enough to destroy Tokio

The main price is $29.99 and the "tear off slip" asks for $29.95.
I can't work out if that was intentional.
