Guitar Hero replacement discs come rolling in

Some readers have noted a difference in Star Power and missed note sounds, too. Is that the case for all of you?
Activision is also offering full refunds for discs without Dolby Pro Logic II, if you'd rather have cash than a replacement. We're not sure when the fixed copies will end up in stores (or, if they already are), but we'll let you know as soon as we find out.

Now, if I had to buy a new GH-III set, how would I know if the disc it comes with is a new one which has sound issues fixed? Is there a product number that can tell me that? Thanks

The new discs have "RVL-RGHE-USA-02" on them while the old ones were "RVL-RGHE-USA-01". I'm not sure how find out without looking at the disc itself

SephAlpha - The current versions I have seen in stores donot have the ProLogic logo on the packaging box and when opened the disc box.

Came one to two weeks after sending it in? WTH!! I sent it in two weeks ago, and they just sent me a email saying they received it. Grrrr..... Thankfully, i now have No More Heroes to pass the time.

The updated game disks have not yet been released for retail sale. If you have purchased your game in the last few weeks, then you do not have the updated game disk for the game.

Ah, now that I know I can post...
I got my disc back from Activision. And guess what? It is BROKEN.
No, not in physical pieces, but rather, broken as in "I refuse to play in your Wii" broken. And no, it's not my Wii. Every other game plays just fine. However, when I place this "new and improved" puppy in, I get a nice little error message stating that there is an error and that I need to reset my Wii.
Thanks Activision. Anyone else have this issue? I plan to send back the disc with a friendly note:

you know, I hate the lawsuit-oriented thinking we have nowadays, but in this case, I feel like its completely worth it. Activision doesn't even pretend to care about its customers anymore.

Got mine on this past Wednesday and yes its different, I swear I miss notes more than before (but that could be due to lack of play for 3-4 weeks). Sounds great through an equalizer / speakers but the bad this is you can more tell the affects of missing notes.
Notice it take longer too to scroll through set lists.

I'm just gonna go for the refund.....That brick wall that pop ups in the slayer/metallica block on the hard setting has made the game no fun anymore. Seriously, impossible to play those songs, and I'm not about to devote my life to gettin through 'em = /

Yeah. The missed note sound was actually from GH2.
Replacing the disks steps the Wii's miss GH2 sound to the miss sounds from the 360 and PS3's from GH3

I just got my replacement this afternoon. Haven't cranked it up though... But I got my replacement package thingy like sometime in the middle of last month and I got an e-mail saying it shipped yesterday and that's my timeline.

BTW, dows the Wii version will have or have DLC capacity??? I do wanna download new contents and not get bored with the actuall list

It has no DLC yet. Although, games can be patched, and there can be DLC.
Of course, they wouldn't do DLC, co-op quickplay, and etc on the replacement disks, because then everyone would want a replacement disk, and that costs them money.

I'm a bit upset I didn't hear about the refund till after I sent in my disc for a replacement, but if the guitar works with RockBand (please Harmonix), then I guess $20-$30 is worth it for the game.

Well I got an e-mail yesterday. So hopefully sometime this coming it will arrive at my house. Also here's hoping for DLC and Everybody's Nintendo Channel for the U.S. I think march is going to be a pretty big month for the wii.

I'm just wondering, is there any news at all on the EU version? As I've not found a single squeek from activision or any news site that brings up the replacement system for us here in lil ole Europe and England.

If you e-mail the support team with your details, they will get back to you as soon as they have info on when the discs will be available.
I can't find the e-mail I got back atm, but it said they had taken my details down and would let me know ASAP when the discs will be available and not to worry that the case would come up solved as they are storing the info seperately

Why can't activision just do a recall and replace all the disc out there that they sold to make it easier for everyone to get. or just have gamestop help out with the recalls to replace the disc whenever a customer walks in any gamestop door with the error disc!!!

Just got mine in the mail today, surround is awesome and I like the new missed notes sound since it is less annoying to listen to, however has anyone else noticed that it no longer seems to come from the wiimote speaker?

Just got mine today (sent it on Feb. 11). The miss note sound is different- actually harder to hear I think. And I think they made it easier to hit multiple notes in a row quickly. It seems to pick up the strums better.
This will hold me over until Rock Band and GH:Aerosmith

Got my replacement disc about a week ago.
I got the form on 2/15/08 and sent it; I got an email on 2/21/08 telling me they received it; then they emailed me again on the morning of 2/27/08 telling me they shipped it back and I got the disc in the mail on the same day around 5:00pm. Lucky me?

Well, I'm an EU user and I actually have the PRO LOGIC logo on the box... don't you others have that at all?
As far as the sound issues i can't really tell because I use a crappy old-school-fat TV and on that one... it sounds ok.
BUT when I used the game at a friends place with nice sound equipment the sound often disted (often when you activated starpower).. I dunno if it's an indication of the sound not behaving as it should?

Yep, the logo is on the box but the game still doesn't have it. Activision is even being sued because of that (saying the the game had pro logic, when it didn't).
So unfortunately, you and your friend's copies are probably without Pro Logic II :(

I just wanted to let you all know that i received my replacement disc in the mail.. We are very pleased with our decision to have it replaced.
