Some more baseball for the Wii with MLB 2K8
MLB Power Pros might have been too cute for a tough guy (or girl) like you, or maybe you've simply been waiting for a more realistic baseball experience. If so, you'll have the chance pick up 2K's Major League Baseball 2K8 next week on March 4th.The press release for the game reveals tons of waggle, which (as we've seen in Wii Sports Baseball) can be a lot of fun, if pulled off correctly. Aside from pitching and hitting, though, the game will also let you field with motion controls. You control the player's destination with the Nunchuck, but then use the Wiimote to throw the ball to the designated fielder.
The only think we're a bit skeptical about is the motion-controlled baserunning. To increase your speed, you shake the Wiimote and Nunchuck simultaneously, which might get annoying over time. Still, we suppose this is probably the most immersive baseball video game to date.
Alas, waggle comes at a price. The game doesn't support online play, and lacks the minor league and trading card features found in the other console versions.

Why doesn't anyone ever mention "The Bigs" when talking about baseball games for the wii. That game is the bomb.

The lack of online is definitly a letdown... way to go nintendo... but the motion controlled batting, feilding, pitching and baserunning will make this game addictive, so i'll definitly be picking it up.

Why? Can someone please sit the developer down and ask them "Why?" It's2008. The Wii debuted in 2006. Why?

they'll probably give you some bullshit answer.. which I dont understand. I mean they had online for Madden and Nba live, granite they are both EA titles, but geez how hard could it be to throw in some online play for this one? I'll continue to pull my hair until I get some answers. Until then, let the hair pulling continue

Waggle costs us online? But better graphics/HD doesn't cost the other console versions online? Not a very good excuse....If I liked baseball(and I don't) I wouldn't get it simply for the Wii getting the watered down version(again).

Are you serious? That's like if I said HD DVD to an Xbox 360 owner and they got all pissed off. Waggle and the other word you used are nowhere close.

I don't think I want to know if that above comment was moderated. I'll just skip til next year. This time the Indians better not blow it. (grumble lousy umpires can't believe lost all those Boston games grumble)

I really dont want to waggle every time I hit the ball, maybe I just won't beat out too many grounders...

I second The Bigs. Exhibition games are too much fun with four people playing at the same time. Plus, no one gets too upset when they lose a five-inning game...Home Run Derby isn't too bad, either.

I love The Big as well, great arcade baseball game. Other than the fact that I had so much fun resulting in muscle ache, there is not much to complain about that game.
