Wii Menu receives an update to 3.2 [update]

This latest update, which brings the Wii Menu to version 3.2, now adds a minor feature to the Disc Channel. Once a game disc has been loaded into the console with an update on it, there will be a notification streaming across the Disc Channel, much like how the Wii Shop Channel now streams release information for Virtual Console games.
Minor update, we know, but we're more concerned about this possibly putting an end to those "Twilight Hacks" the kids have been going crazy over. Someone want to get on that and check for us?
Update: Our very awesome and very attractive (seriously, are you single?) readers have pointed out in the comments that the update does not kill the "Twilight Hack" exploit. Also, some folk at NeoGAF are confirming this to be true. So get back to playing Tetris already!
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

u guys r fast, but there's no way in hell I would EVER hack my precious.
darn! I thought it was finally the Everybody's Nintendo Channel. O Well!
David Hinkle @ Feb 25th 2008 10:56PM
We would be sleeping, if our overlords at Joystiq let us. Oh well, at least we got to eat today ...
Sonic_13 @ Feb 26th 2008 1:22AM
I know! I was really hoping that it would be the "Everybody's Nintendo Channel" too!
Someday...someday....

Everybody's Nintendo Channel won't be here until around May.
ProudWiiOwner @ Feb 26th 2008 9:47AM
how do you know??
CalcProgrammer1 @ Feb 25th 2008 11:01PM
Twilight Hack STILL WORKING!!!!!!
I updated first, then found out about the hack, and I was like NOOOOOOOO, but then I tried the hack, and what do ya know...
IT WORKS!
Don't worry about this update, it doesn't break save copying (you can still copy the Twilight Hack save to your Wii) and the hack still works.
Michael Sliczniak @ Feb 26th 2008 8:56AM
But they can now send an update for TP that fixes the exploit. The next time they have the patch ready for TP and you insert the game disc, it will ask you to perform a system update before you play the game.
caramelzappa @ Feb 25th 2008 11:16PM
I don't really think nintendo is going to really fight the hack as long as it's not used to pirate wii games. I'm sure as soon as the hack is used for "backup copies" though, nintendo will release an update disabling it.
AndrewNeo @ Feb 25th 2008 11:17PM
I don't know how a menu update would fix a problem with save code in a game, but okay.. even the Mechwarrior exploit for the Xbox survived Live updates.
Hafk @ Feb 25th 2008 11:22PM
So... this could possibly lead to the Guitar Hero III DLC patch?
GHIII DLC is looking close and closer..... with the DLC confirmation, and now this patch which allows individual games to get an update. (I believe that is what this is)
shadowchaoscontrol @ Feb 26th 2008 6:26AM
thats what i was hoping for when i seen my glowing wii

I'm just thinking this might be the "required update" for Brawl, as their Parental Controls got updated. Then again, I don't really know.
iofthestorm @ Feb 26th 2008 12:06AM
I think it says that after every update since Parental Controls were added, as far as I remember anyway.
Mr Khan @ Feb 26th 2008 4:42PM
Yeah, that's some kind of glitch they've been missing. Every since the 1.1 update that added Parental Controls, its been saying "Parental Controls are available." I remember the 1.0 update (the one on launch day that enabled the Shop Channel) saying things like "The shop channel is now available"
marcusthe @ Feb 25th 2008 11:51PM
This update seems to have fixed the flickering pixel problem I've been having. Nice one, Nintendo.
Sonic_13 @ Feb 26th 2008 3:29AM
I had not heard of this problem before. Would you mind explaining more about what it was?
Sisyphus @ Feb 26th 2008 4:20AM
This feels very much like a precursor to getting DLC for games.
David @ Feb 26th 2008 4:52AM
Oh dear I always get so excited when the blue light and when it is a little poo update like this I want to weep a little. I dont think it did anything I just think it was nintendo sending the blue light of love to those who dont often get to see it.

That is SO creepy. It's 6:00am here, I get up, go to my dark living room, go to Joystiq on my computer, read this article, and see said glowing blue alien life form to my left. *Gasp* Joystiq rocks.
Polecat @ Feb 26th 2008 9:19AM
This reminds me that I need a copy of TP.... and Corruption, RE:UC and uh.....maybe Wario Ware too.
Nebinator @ Feb 28th 2008 4:55PM
Definetely corruption
Trae @ Mar 3rd 2008 4:09PM
does anybody know what games can actually be updated or anything i sooo badly wanna know instead keep checking to see if my games can be updated
Hot$auce_Magik @ Feb 26th 2008 9:34AM
In its currents state, I don't think the wii has enough memor to handle real game patches. The ones on XBL are a few hundred megabytes usually. Can't remember off hand how much the wii started with... 500mb?
Matt @ Feb 26th 2008 9:41AM
Yeah, I'm hoping this enables GH3 DLC. That's what it sounds like. "NEW SONGS FOR GH3" scrolling across the Disc Channel.
lol @ Feb 26th 2008 10:22AM
I hope it's DLC too. I won't know for a while, since I mailed in my GHIII to activision already.
Oneiroi @ Feb 26th 2008 12:05PM
Wait wait, when the Wii light randomly goes on while on standby, it's updating?
Wow, I thought mine has just been freaking out all this time.
Sonic_13 @ Feb 26th 2008 12:14PM
When the Wii light turns on while it is off, it means that someone has sent you a message.
In this case, it was from Nintendo notifying you of an update.
Sonic_13 @ Feb 26th 2008 12:16PM
To clarify my poorly worded sentence:
I meant to say "When the Wii light turns on while the system is off..."
marcusthe @ Feb 26th 2008 10:03PM
Sonic_13-- the flickering pixels are pretty much exactly what they sound like-- random (from game to game at least) groups of off-colored pixels that pop up on screen. One of the lesser known, yet still pretty big problems that Wii hardware has had. Someone guessed at another site a while ago that it's from overheated boards due to the Wii Connect feature, so I was ready to send mine in for repairs. Don't need to anymore now. Really odd that it's a system update fix.....
mega @ Mar 1st 2008 11:36AM
Woo I hope I can finally get some new songs for GH3
