There's a party in your pants, and Space Invaders are invited
Space Invaders have now gotten as invasive as they can possible get.If you want the little alienoids on your underwear -- and, let's be honest, who doesn't? -- you might want to consider getting these Space Invaders boxer briefs.
Made by Ted Baker (we're not fashion conscious enough to know if that's a big deal), these undies cost a whopping £18 ($35 USD).
So, what do you think about these? Geek chic or geek freak?

Geek chic, depending on who's seeing them. Definitely not something you want to wear on a first date, but if they weren't $35, I'd be getting them for my boyfriend O:-)
atastysammich @ Feb 24th 2008 8:39PM
Who said anything about shooting through your own shelter blocks on the first date?
sixtyfps @ Feb 24th 2008 8:20PM
What is up with all the Tetris and Space Invaders apparel advertised here? It's getting annoying.

Here's the agreement: We, the DS Fanboy staff, will post a whole bunch of stuff. You, the reader, have the option to read or not to read any of it. We'll give the posts titles so that you can make those decisions while browsing the RSS feeds. Fair, right?

I actually agree with sixtyfps. I think it's also safe to say that most gamers who visit this site are guys. With that said, I think I speak for a lot of us when I say we don't visit this site to see male bulges, whether they have space invaders on them or not.

Honestly, this is the 10th Space Invaders merch dump in my DSfanboy RSS history.
JC and Candace: give it a rest, people!

SERIOUSLY.

Wouldn't really mind if it was on Joystiq, but I don't know how much this has to do with the DS.... oh well, I guess you guys have to post something on slow news days.

1. It's the weekend
2. Space Invaders Extreme is for the DS.
3. Some of the bloggers love Space Invaders so much that they want to point out every great accessory that incorporates it. That's just how they roll.
4. It's Sunday night. Obviously, we try to provide the coverage you guys want, when you want it, but cut us some slack on the weekends. We have lives and things we like to attend to in the real world. So "fluff" posts like this often get pushed to the weekends because of the nature of the post. Just because it was posted today doesn't mean the blogger hasn't been sitting on it all week so that the important stuff can take priority then.
This is pretty much directed at the fine folk above you Croove55, so don't take it as me giving you crap. You pretty much hit the nail on the head with your comment. :)

Onoz an invasion in my pants =O

I do like Space Invaders more than most people; if you google for "atari space invaders" I'm the third result as I type this. If some random guy I just met were to love Space Invaders so much as to take time out from our festivities to tell me how much he loves the Space Invaders boxers I'm about to take off, I'd probably go out and buy him a ring. More likely, I might get a laugh out of them.
So I might have picked up a pair of these to be funny.... if they had actual space invaders on them (one of the three from the original Taito game, or even one of the six from the Atari version.) But these aren't from Space Invaders, they're generic pixelated aliens from no game in particular, not even the other consoles' ripoffs of Space Invaders. So, no future husband litmus test for me, at least not from this company.

Oh, hey. Man-crotch. I totally expected that on a gaming blog.
stickmanfc73_ @ Feb 25th 2008 1:01AM
Space Invaders needs to die. That is, after Extreme comes out. I'm so sick of hearing about Space Invaders merch. There are other classic games to make fashionable damn.
nicole @ Feb 25th 2008 1:20AM
ted baker is sort of a big deal in fashion. not anything incredible, or avant garde, but nice enough. i expected them to cost more.
Dio @ Feb 25th 2008 3:41AM
Where'd that guy's junk go? D:!
MeLeNaS @ Feb 25th 2008 4:11AM
35 bucks is probably too much for underwear, though I must admit they absolutely ROCK :)
Oh well, I can always knit something of my own for my boyfriend :)

so what is the feeling on mismatched video-game-icon clothes, like wearing Space Invaders undies with a Super Mario Brothers t-shirtand a Halo hoodie?
and how would that compare to wearing multiple layers of co-ordinating video-game clothes, like having mario on everything from your undies outwards?
hvnlysoldr @ Feb 25th 2008 11:56AM
Although I don't like merchandise posts, mostly because I never seem to buy any, I appreciate all the bloggers doing their jobs and putting up posts.
