Rumor: Shantae on Wii Ware?
Back in December, Contra 4 developer WayForward asked the entire internet for its thoughts on a new Shantae game. Smelling an opportunity to help play a part in reviving a fantastic franchise, we shamelessly begged readers of DS Fanboy to vote for a sequel on the DS. Being the magnificent people they are, they lent us their clicking fingers!Alas, it now looks as though our efforts were in vain, but there's no need to be glum, folks. WayForward founder Voldi Way told Siliconera that the next Shantae game was being considered for Wii Ware.
Sure, that makes it a lot less likely to be the 2D Shantae that we really, really want but hey, it's Shantae, and it's on a Nintendo system. We'll gladly take it!

It makes sense.
No need to add in any frilly touch screen stff for a DS version.
Skip a GBA version because it's time has passed...
And a Wii retail version wouldn't be ideal unless they were aiming big.
This would be perfect. I'd say I'm super excited, but I've never played the original, so I'm a little out of the loop on the appeal. What's the game about anyway?
But more Wii Ware is always a good thing. Anything sounds good to me.

Belly dancing waggle is intriguing.

Why do I think this is some kind of pervy guys fantasy, in a game cart? Sexy females as leads.....with magical powers...that look like belly dancers? Really that was all I needed to know :D
I think WiiWare is an excellent choice platform....
They should have it end on a good note with Risky Boots and Shantae becoming really good friends?

Alright question:
Has anyone here played this game? If so, what was so damn great about it? I read up on it but it didn't sound revolutionary or anything. You hit people with your big hair and transform, and honestly, that doesn't quite sell me the game. I'd just like to know what exactly the main draw of this game was.

It was a solid platformer of high difficulty with cool transformation hooks via dance moves and a fun story with lots of kooky tongue-in-cheek dialog. Also there was a town full of zombies. I was saddened that the GBA sequel never got a publisher, so here's hoping they get the WiiWare version off the ground.
