Seeing as how you need to send everything back to get the refund, I'd take the new disc.
NutMac @ Feb 22nd 2008 3:31PM
You can get the new updated GH3 when it comes out next month then return the old mono GH3 for refund.
Beanie @ Feb 22nd 2008 2:51PM
Activision... actually.. no one has been clear on whether the new discs will make it to retail. So, if I do the refund can I buy a new package with the updated disc, or are the fixed discs only available by mailing in your own copy? Someone needs to clarify this.
Michael Sliczniak @ Feb 22nd 2008 2:56PM
I second I want a clarification on this. my cousins don't want a month long break in the GH3 playing. Better to just return everything and pick-up a new copy.
Beanie @ Feb 22nd 2008 3:01PM
I know the new discs aren't in retail yet because I just recently bought my package and it still had the same issues. Please Activision, offer us some clarification.
kerio @ Feb 22nd 2008 2:54PM
money refund then new package with new guitar and new disc
Michael @ Feb 22nd 2008 2:58PM
Does this also apply to Canadians?
Ghen @ Feb 23rd 2008 9:31PM
nothing ever applies to Canadians you crazy crazy man.
Gerwurztraminer @ Feb 22nd 2008 3:24PM
Since I'm new to Guitar Hero and I haven't noticed any lack of "fun" while playing with my mono-disc, I have no complaints.
sn1per @ Feb 22nd 2008 3:31PM
I'll just go for the replacement disc, but only cause the guitar acts as a classic controller, which means harmonix should have no problem making their guitar do the same.
dwain white @ Feb 22nd 2008 3:32PM
I think this is crap, since I have already sent in my disc. I did not get the opportunity to decide. I did put a note in my mailer, telling them that I would like some kind of payment for the three weeks that they are going to have my disc. Like they even care.
Relay @ Feb 22nd 2008 3:48PM
I want to know when we'll be able to guy Guitar Hero III in retail with the stereo sound already fixed. I haven't gotten the game yet because I don't want to send it for a replacement disc as soon as I get it. Sure, Activision is offering replacement discs and refunds, but when will issue be fixed in the supply chain?
Roto13 @ Feb 22nd 2008 3:50PM
I like my game and I think it's fun even with mono sound. I'd rather keep it.
Dan @ Feb 22nd 2008 4:03PM
On that note, has Nintendo been replacing copies of Fire Emblem because of the data-transfer glitch? Does one have to mail disc/everything/nothing?
I managed to snag one on Amazon today, which I presume will have the glitch. Since I'm currently in the middle of FE PoR (GameCube), I could live a three-week turnaround by mail if that's what it took.
Mr Khan @ Feb 22nd 2008 4:18PM
Its been a persistent topic on Radiant Dawn fan forums, but nobody actually knows. Some believe the long-awaited PAL version will ship with the fix
But if you're playing through PoR, are you on Normal or Hard mode? If so it will be fine if you delete all your Easy files (even if you're not trying to import from an easy file, the presence of one easy file will stop it)
TheDave @ Feb 22nd 2008 4:37PM
I'm just glad I got my 2nd copy last week at TRU when it was on sale for $70 (I still had my $25 Mario Galaxy GC = ~$50 after tax for me).
This way I won't have to go without the game for weeks and weeks while the incompetents at Craptivision replace my 1st copy.
After my stereo Disc arrives (I still don't have the "mail it back" package they sent out), and the stand alone Guitars are released, I might just return my second copy for the $132, and use that to buy a 2nd Guitar.
If I didn't have the 2nd copy to play while my 1st copy was replaced, I would call and bitch to every manager possible Day after Day(!), until the pre-shipped me a new copy, and once it was there I would send em back the POS mono copy. I would even give my CC # to them so they could charge me if I didn't return it.
That is called "pre-ship swap out".
Any REPUTABLE company does it that way. Obviously Craptivision is just a suck a$$ company, and chooses to handle things EXTREMELY POORLY...
Sarah @ Feb 22nd 2008 6:51PM
I called and signed up for a replacement package the first day they had it (sometime in January, I think), but they have yet to send me a box to put my game in like they said they would. Has anyone else gotten one yet or do I need to request one again?
ptb429 @ Feb 22nd 2008 8:46PM
I got my return mailer yesterday, and there was no postage on it. So either I ask for another one, or pay postage OOP. This is really a poor reflection on Activision. Too bad I love GH III so much!
Ghen @ Feb 23rd 2008 9:33PM
Heh, mine came with a stamp. You know, like us regular people use. Not sure why they didn't go with business mailers or even a postal machine.. thats alot of physical labor if you multiply out all the mailers.
EinXIII @ Feb 22nd 2008 9:21PM
Great! I just bought Rock Band 2 weeks ago and I was about to put GH3 on ebay because it seems borring now...
This rocks!
Just_a_guy @ Feb 22nd 2008 11:31PM
guess what? I would rather get the replacement. That way I could know for sure that I am getting the correct one, and I can also then feel like I got the best deal.
Rachel @ Feb 23rd 2008 12:44AM
Does anyone know . . . if you buy Guitar Hero III now, will you get the new discs?
Polecat @ Feb 23rd 2008 5:40AM
This is a question of mine as well. I mean I bought my copy at T R U just a week or so ago, and no amount of googling has turned up any info that confirms or squelches anything I have heard on the issue.
