Still no Mega Man on VC! Can anyone explain this?
Macfly @ Feb 18th 2008 12:59PM
Yes, i'm pretty sure everyone can explain this:
It's called the Mega Man Anniversary Collection and is a Game Cube (and therefore fully Wii-compatible) disc with ten Mega Man games (six NES, one SNES, one PS1 and two arcade game) that you can find used all over the place (right now, 17 used and new available on Amazon.com, starting at $13.49 + shipping) for cheaper than three VC NES games.
Sure, the existence of a similar compilation did not prevent Sega from releasing Sonic games on the VC and it definitely does not mean that Capcom will never release Mega Man, but it possibly helps explain why Capcom is in no hurry to do so.

So true MacFly! I am fully on board with buying compilation Gamecube games over certain individual VC titles.
If you want MegaMan on Wii, then pick up the
Mega Man Anniversary Collection and the MegaMan X Collection.
Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gem Collection, MidwayArcade Classics 1,2,3 are also smart decisions.
The Zelda collection however...is rare and expensive, but easier than buying the games individually.
Gerwurztraminer @ Feb 18th 2008 1:42PM
While I agree that the collections you mentioned are great deals, there's something about the simplicity of the Wii remote that makes playing NES and Genesis games fun again.
That being said, I'm hoping for Sonic CD one day on VC as I'd rather pay $8-$10 for the one game I do want than pay $20 for Sonic CD et al via Sonic Gems.
Mr Khan @ Feb 18th 2008 2:13PM
If you've never tried it i'd get Gems Collection just for the only ever console version of Sonic the Fighters
Unless you're totally opposed to 3D fighters, i'd go for it, fun as hell and not really a button masher
beaus27 @ Feb 18th 2008 2:22PM
Actually I have been eyeing a used copy of Sonic Gem Collection for a week at my local store, that I can get for $13.
I agree using the Wiimote does bring back that old school gaming feeling. But having SGC, contains Sonic CD, Sonic R, sonic fighters, and( the eventual release VC), The GameGear Sonic games. Plus Vetroman 1+2.

You do realize that you can buy a PSP and the Genesis collection with 28 games for less then the currently available ones from that same collection on the VC.
You do realize that you can buy a PSP and the NEOGEO collection with 16 games for less then the currently available ones from that same collection on the VC.
And more importantly...
YOU CAN ACTUALLY SELL THE GAME USED FOR CASH ONCE YOU GET BORED OF IT!!!
Gerwurztraminer @ Feb 18th 2008 4:36PM
Interesting statistics.
However, I think it has been established that if you want a game or two the VC is an economical choice, but that if you want a "collection" that there are better options.
As for point three, that is the downside to digital distribution. But not everyone sells their old games; some of us shelve them and replay them at a later date.
Mr Khan @ Feb 18th 2008 4:52PM
And i would do that
If i had a PSP
Joseph Lundstrom, Jr. @ Feb 18th 2008 8:21PM
I love me some PS. I can't wait till IV comes out!!! I already own 3 copies of it on Genesis and I WILL be buying it on the Wii!!
