DS Daily: Sonic Chronicles
There are two disparate components of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, each of which has its own fandom. Sonic the Hedgehog, and BioWare. These are pretty distinct things: Sonic is traditionally the domain of retrogamers and children, and is best known as a series of action-platformers; BioWare makes a lot of complicated role-playing games, some of which are even on computers. If you find yourself interested in Chronicles, why? Is it more because of the characters or the developer? It's certainly not the name.

I'll have to say that it's more for the characters. Bioware isn't the only RPG maker around if the the team that made Rush suddenly decided to do an RPG using the Sonic universe I'd still be interested.

Mainly the characters. Although, after reading the Nintendo Power article about Bioware, I would say partially the developer as well. And if they take Square's approach in Super Mario RPG, they're golden.

Mainly interested due to BioWare. They're the only thing that's really keeping this game on the radar for me.
I'm a long-time PC RPGer, of course.
This game is looking pretty good. As for the title, I'm fine with it...but I like to call it Sonicles.

Huh... I love the name
It's the Chronic-what-cles of Sonic!

I think there is funny here.

as soon as i heard Sonic RPG i thought awesome.
Honestly i felt it might be the only was to reignite the franchise. It looked to be in good hands.
So far i am not impressed and really fear it is going to suck.
oh well
maybe this will the the final nail in the Sega coffin that will allow Nintendo to buy all the Sega Intellectual Property and put it to good use.

Bioware. I'm too young to have seen much but rubbish from Sonic.

This game is going to be the DS defining game.
Sonic + RPG + Bioware + DS = victory.
Maths doesn't lie.

I am always hoping for someone to come along and rejuvenate the Sonic franchise so I always have an eye on new Sonic games. However, in years past, the Sonic franchise has seen a bunch of mediocre to horrible games, so I look into each game with skepticism.
What really makes me excited about this game is Bioware developing it. I am hoping that with their proven track record, they can break this cycle of mediocre Sonic games and really deliver a gem (or chaos emerald) of a game.

I'm mostly interested because it's BioWare and they've yet to fail, which is surprising.
I mean, honestly, I can count the number of good Sonic games in the last 5 years on one hand.
WhatIsThatThing @ Feb 18th 2008 12:02PM
I'm mostly interested because, well, it's Sonic. I'm not a big RPG player at all (like only the Mario RPGs and I'm working my way through Chrono Trigger), so I hope that Sonic RPG goes a similar route to Super Mario RPG. It seems to be right now taking that direction.

Here's my logic. There are two types of Sonic games: Good ones, and ones by Sonic Team. This is a Sonic Game made by Bio"Not Sonic Team"Ware, So it's worth a look at.
Brello @ Feb 18th 2008 5:31PM
Sad, but pretty accurate nowadays.
manaman @ Feb 18th 2008 12:42PM
Not gonna lie,
I'm interested because of the developer, the characters AND the theme. I like RPG's of popular other characters because they are rare and the few that are out there tend to be really interesting and fresh and unique.
So, there you have it, bring it on--I will be playing this game when it comes out,

I am interested in this game for the characters and the company making it. Not one or the other. Both.
ArmorForVictor @ Feb 18th 2008 3:16PM
stopped caring about sonic after the genesis.
Gerwurztraminer @ Feb 18th 2008 3:36PM
Ditto. But this looks promising.
JfreshInEffect @ Feb 18th 2008 4:44PM
Bioware. I haven't been into a sonic game since 2 or 3. Bioware on the other hand makes amazing RPG's.
I hope this is an A+ game.
Brello @ Feb 18th 2008 5:37PM
If they can pull something off with the same quality Alpha Dream did with Mario & Luigi, then I'll try it. I still have a soft spot for Sonic, even though Sonic Team has butchered the poor thing lately.

I like the Sonic games but I LOVE the Baldur's Gate games. I must have spent around 50 hours exploring the Sword Coast and getting caught up in subquest after subquest...
I don't dislike the Sonic characters but I'd be just as excited if this was Bioware making a Bomberman or a Donkey Kong RPG
Peter S @ Feb 18th 2008 6:09PM
Bioware - Definitely Bioware. I know of Sonic, but never paid a lot of attention other than to notice that it was a kind of cool platformer. I'm not into those types of games for the most part, but definitely enjoy the RPG games. Looking at the screenshots I will admit to being highly intrigued.
Sleepykidd @ Feb 18th 2008 8:02PM
I've been a die-hard Sonic fan since 2 came out... I've enjoyed all of the other sonic handheld efforts, so I'm looking forward to this one. The battle system also looks refreshing.
I don't see whats soooOOOooo off the wall about a Sonic RPG though...
