DS Daily: Such a Square (Enix)

There's a lot of potential Square Enix on the horizon. Between The World Ends with You, Final Fantasy remakes, Dragon Quest remakes, new Dragon Quests, Border of Madness, Final Fantasy Tactis A2, and Crystal Chronicles, that's quite a lot of DS love. Oh, and let's not forget Kingdom Hearts. So, are you a Square Enix fan? If so, what game are you most hoping for or looking forward to?

I don't see why A2 hasn't been given a release date yet. That game will keep me busy forever, much like the GBA version.

I'm excited for the DQ remakes and IX, as well as The World Ends with You. I'm also hoping for less than $40 pricing.

Hoping for a FFIV US release (and even more so hoping it leads to an FFVI remake and subsequent US release).

But, on the more realistic side, DQIX.

I'm most looking forward to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2, FFTA is one of my favorite games of all time, I got it the day it came out and I still play it, but I'm also really looking forward to The World Ends With You.

DQ IX which should be a killer ap. All the DQ and FF remakes are on my want list as well. FF IV is up there cause I never finished it on either SNES and PS1. Everything else is shovelware imho. The world ends with us got mediocre reviews same with FFCC. The FrontMission 1 remake was just a snes port and very little more, and I loved FM1. Square does love the ds though, which is good since its my favorite system of all time.

Yeah,

I'm a Square fan, but really, I've been rather upset with them for a while. Their height was when they only worked with Nintendo. They've made a lot of decisions and issued a lot of statements since then that I don't agree with.

My favorite series along with "The Legend of Zelda" is "Seiken Densetsu." I would really like them to make a quality game to revive that series on either the DS or Wii. Also, I'm REALLY looking forward to "Crystal Chronicles" on the DS. I'm just calling it "Seiken Densetsu" in my mind. ;)

I have several Square-Enix games in my collection, but I don't really have funds for any new games at this point. Even with the release of a new Kingdom Hearts game, I would probably buy a few old Atlus releases before I got to Square-Enix.

DQ9 but it won't be released in US until `09. Bare in mind that last 3 DQ games took at least 7 months for US port.

I would love to see the Saiken Densetsu series reborn on the DS. Seriously, Heroes of Mana & Children of Mana are great, but they just are nothing like the original Mana games, and that makes me sad. I'd love to see a remake of Secret of Mana on DS. Seriously, I'd cut limbs off for it.

And I am DYING for a remake of Final Fantasy 7.

It kills me, FF7 is pretty much the most revered game out of the Final Fantasy franchise, and I don't know anybody who would deny that whether they are a fan of FF7 or not. It had the most complete, well-put together story line out of the series, and at the time, it pushed graphics to the limit. The gameplay was tight and smooth, and all around amazing.

But I'm getting off track, the point is, FF7 is basically Square's cash cow (Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, anyone?), and yet they won't remake it, but they'll remake other FF's two or three times. YARGH!

As for what's been announced that I want: Final Fantasy IV. It can not get here soon enough.

I disagree. I do not believe that FF7 is the most revered game in the series. That title should be a tie between FF4 (which, admittedly, I have never played) or FF6 (which is what got me hooked on RPGs). Also, I never felt the FF7 storyline was well put together. It took me multiple play-throughs just to "get it" (who's a clone? he's a clone? you're a clone? i think I'm a clone now...).

That being said, FF7 is also my favorite Final Fantasy. I logged in well over 100 hours on my first play through (don't know how many exactly because the timer stops recording your play time after 99:59!) and have played the game, to completion, nearly a dozen times since.

I too would like to see a remake, but now that Square has waited this long, the question becomes what system? The obvious answer would seem to be PS3, although my personal preference would be the Wii. Nevertheless, if Square actually DID put a FF7 remake on the the PS3 I'm sure Sony would be thrilled to have a "system seller" on their hands.

(I'm know I'm way off topic, but at least it is self-contained. time for more coffee)

I already have Final Fantasy IV (GBA), so I'll probably pass on the upcoming DS version.

I also have Final Fantasy III (DS), but I don't consider myself a Square Enix fan.
