Aerosmith and Guitar Hero come together, leave us cryin'

Now, we like Guitar Hero and Aerosmith as much as the next guy, but we can't help but feel a little jaded; this just seems like overkill. Activision is surely livin' on the edge, releasing so many iterations of Guitar Hero in such a short period of time. As for the game itself, that's just a lot of Aerosmith. We're sure that fans of the franchise don't want to miss a thing and will just push play, but we hope Activision knows that an Aerosmith guitar game isn't an original idea.
So, what's our verdict? Activision can dream on. We're not crazy, crazy, crazy for this game.

I'm not a big fan of Aerosmith, mainly only liking a few of their releases. Anyways, I wouldn't purchase a special edition of Guitar Hero feature my favorite band, since it just seems to be a pointless money maker to me.
Literally, I don't want to play the songs, but rather listen to them.
Randal @ Feb 15th 2008 11:29AM
I agree, I think they could have chosen a way better band. Obviously this is my opinion as Aerosmith is a huge band. But please pick someone better! Plus what happens when the Album DLC for Rock Band comes out?! Or will this just be 30+ songs?! Why! But it will be interesting to see how huge Steven Tylers mouth will be in a video game! Only person in the world that could probably fit one of those baseball jawbreakers in there! haha!
Happy Friday!!! Woooo!!!

Have there been any updates about GH DLC for the Wii?
I will take downloadable songs over Aerosmith...
capt.strugglebunny @ Feb 15th 2008 11:56AM
Although I would think it would be technically (and quite easily) possible with use of the SD (I mean, what the hell are they there for anyways, Nintendo?) cards; I wouldn't hold my breath.
Gerwurztraminer @ Feb 15th 2008 12:00PM
As someone that literally has been playing Guitar Hero for less than a week, I have to say I like it. As for an Aerosmith specific GH... I think that's a bit too much Aerosmith. I'll pass.
Now, "Guitar Hero Wii: Play Songs from your SD Card", that I would buy.
Matt B @ Feb 15th 2008 12:09PM
I'm meh about it, but my girlfriend would probably love it. I guess it depends on the price. $30? Oh yeah. $50? Probably not.
And I really do want to DLC. Its not hard to use things off the SD card, and they are 2GB at the biggest, so bleeping get on it!
livejapan @ Feb 15th 2008 12:22PM
Don't forget that Aerosmith was also featured in Revolution X, the arcade shooter that was ported to consoles.
sly @ Feb 15th 2008 12:24PM
I hate you and your clever aerosmith puns and references. I used to like them until high school when "I don't want to miss a thing" was played on the bus everday on the way to school
James @ Feb 15th 2008 12:38PM
Would buy this if it were GH: Red Hot Chili Peppers.
stupid @ Feb 15th 2008 5:24PM
omg i just though the same thing! :P
Ghen @ Feb 16th 2008 7:59AM
no, just no.
Ian @ Feb 15th 2008 12:38PM
I still think the best thing they could do is release the discs for Guitar Hero 1 and 2 for the Wii, just he game discs though.
BrandonIT @ Feb 15th 2008 9:25PM
Seconded. Let's see the original GH's ported to Wii. I suppose I could buy them for the PS2 instead and just do all my GH'ing on my PS2, but where's the fun in that? (or the portability?!?)
bc @ Feb 15th 2008 12:39PM
I'd sooner be a dude who looks like a lady than buy this game. I can see doing LOTS of band-specific GHs (I'd grab Smashing Pumpkins) for targeted audiences. But if this is the only one, bleah.
holmes @ Feb 15th 2008 12:42PM
this would be fantastic if it were a collection of their older greatest hits, pre-1993. if it were comprised solely of songs like "mama kin" or "sweet emotion" or even "dude looks like a lady," i'd be first in line to purchase.
however, the thought of "jaded" or "pink" or "falling in love is so hard on the knees" and ESPECIALLY "don't wanna miss a thing" will keep me from buying this one.
GH4 + DLC already!!!
holmes @ Feb 15th 2008 12:43PM
i completely agree. it should be really easy to port the PS2 versions of GH1 and GH2 over the wii. however, since the company essentially split before the release of GH3, i'm sure there are royalties and legal copyrights preventing these from coming to the wii.
Croove55 @ Feb 15th 2008 12:43PM
Seriously?
Really? This isn't some sort of bizarre April Fool's prank come way too early?
This is an absolutely horrible idea. I like Aerosmith to a decent degree, but what happened to variety? I don't want to play songs from one group if I'm going to buy this game, at least not one as B-list as Aerosmith. Gimme a Guitar Hero:Beatles Edition, and I'd consider it, if only because how much their style changed and shifted throughout their career.
As for this, I definitely won't be buying it. My brother is a different story, since he likes Aerosmith way more than I do.
Malecden @ Feb 15th 2008 12:49PM
I'm a little confused. Who thought this was a good idea? My god it looks like a joke title. Aerosmith is a good band and all, but Guitar Hero is based on VARIETY. What were these people on when they decided to make a game based on one band? I'm gonna have to pass and hope the people who made this decision are sacked before the next iteration.
Christopher Jones @ Feb 15th 2008 1:06PM
I have to give you mad props on the amount of lyrics/songs you managed to work into this post. This is exactly why I read this site versus others.
GatorSax2010 @ Feb 15th 2008 1:09PM
Please, no more, no more of your song title puns! Tell me what it takes to make you stop! ;)
But seriously, I'm a pretty big Aerosmith fan (seen them twice, and say what you will, they still put on a great show), but I can see this being a bad idea. I'll reserve judgment, but given what's being done with downloadable content (at least on other consoles, sadly) this seems unnecessary. It depends on what they do with it, I guess. At least they have a variety of songs, and the press release said there would be some songs by other bands, too.
GatorSax2010 @ Feb 15th 2008 1:10PM
And for the record, your puns did make me laugh.
Tim @ Feb 15th 2008 1:14PM
i quit reading after the third pun.
MBJ @ Feb 15th 2008 1:51PM
I liked the puns in the post. Also, I am a guitar hero junkie and I will buy just about game that they release. I'm certainly not the biggest Aerosmith fan but their music is good enough and I'm looking forward to having new songs to play. Granted more variety would have been welcome but I'm not going to complain too much as long as I have something to play. Think about it: would you rather have the option of playing GH: Aerosmith, or just have nothing at all released? If you don't like it, then don't buy it.
NeverSage @ Feb 15th 2008 1:53PM
This isn't on my must buy list. I'll take a Guitar Hero: U2 edition.
Or maybe David Bowie. I dunno, I'd rather just have this stuff as DLC.
Paul S. @ Feb 15th 2008 2:03PM
Well, I do like Aerosmith, so it looks like I'll be buying this upon release.
There is a bright side to this for all of you who don't like Aerosmith too. With most of their good songs used, they probably won't appear in many future iterations of Guitar Hero.
Gerwurztraminer @ Feb 15th 2008 4:22PM
I don't have anything against the inclusion of Aerosmith in GH, but unfortunately you are probably right. With GH:Aerosmith, there probably would not be Aerosmith songs in the next GH:"various artists". For those that don't mind Aerosmith but could not take a full game on just Aerosmith, this would be a disappointment.
On the other hand, I personally would jump on the chance for a GH:Offspring or GH:Green Day, but not everyone would agree with me on that.
However, I think everyone would agree that we are safe provided they do not ever release Guitar Hero: Now That's What I Call Disco!
eugaet @ Feb 15th 2008 3:04PM
So many complainers...
I'll be picking this up at release, too, Paul S.
Jumbo @ Feb 15th 2008 3:12PM
Aerosmith? Guitarhero?
Well, you can have my 50 bones in June... I'll buy this up.
jason @ Feb 15th 2008 5:11PM
guitar hero: nirvana would be a pretty good game, I think. I mean, you could get almost all their songs on one game disc!
FX-1 @ Feb 15th 2008 6:06PM
If it's at all possible, I think you used too many Aerosmith related puns in one article.
I like Aerosmith a lot, but I couldn't stand an ENTIRE GH about them. I want some artist variety in my GH games.
Matt @ Feb 16th 2008 9:25AM
Best...
News...
EVER!!!!!!!!
This is sooooooo incredible! I was actually thinking the other day... (I just recently got obsessed with Guitar Hero)... that there really should be more Aerosmith in it... but I couldn't think of the best song... there's just SOOOO many! I mean "Love In An Elevator," "Cryin'," "Jaded," "Pink," "Janie's Got A Gun," "Walk This Way," "Sweet Emotion," "Ain't That A Bitch," "Amazing," "Dream On," "Angel," "Dude Looks Like A Lady," "Crazy," "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing," "Fly Away From Here," "Hole In My Sole...." God, I could go on FOREVER!!! And that's just the popular ones! There are so many amazing songs of theirs that would go soooo well on Guitar Hero, that I really do believe the deserve their own game...
And I was thinking that the other day... Never did I believe that it would come true... OH HAPPY DAY INDEED!
HellsHammer @ Feb 16th 2008 2:41PM
Generation X was more than enough games for Aerosmith.
Enough said.
Dipso @ Feb 15th 2008 11:45PM
I... can't .. t..ake... it.......... to..... ..many......p.....uns.....GAAAH!!
MBJ @ Feb 16th 2008 7:17AM
I just read this regarding GH3:Aerosmith on Reuters: "The game will feature about 30 Aerosmith songs as well as others from various acts that have opened for the band."
It sounds like there may be more variety than we originally thought.

not buying this, too much aerosmith, less fun, and cmon, they have a lot of songs and all but the same musicians are pplaying all, so, basically the same freaking style in all the songs, no thanks ill pass
