Your wait to explore dungeons is almost over
With the game's release imminent (it just went gold and should be on shelves February 12th in the U.S.), Hudson sent off a trailer for the game. And, after giving it a look, we've got to say it's a welcome change, considering that in the past we've only had screens to gawk at. Plus, you know, the game looks fun and all.
So, any of you looking forward to picking up Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts?

This has looked interesting for a while now. I would like to know more details as to how the wifi multi player works. I would not get this for a single player arpg. Too many games of the past have this genre on lockdown.

Decent framerate? I honestly wasn't expecting that. Sure, I'll give it a go. I hope the puzzles are actually somewhat puzzling.

The video kind of ended abruptly before going into the "Dungeon................... Explorer" end title.
It looks like it has potential. Though I'd rather see more gameplay than the concept art that took up the first half of the video.

If online sucks, then you can forget about it. I thought that FF game with 4 player online originally in developement looked worth buying, but when they took it out, I forgot abot it.

I am looking forward to getting the game but if the PSP and DS versions are just the same game I'm going with the PSP version.

They probably shouldn't let Steve from marketing do the voice-over next time.

Definately looking forward to this title (and the PSP and DS versions are different). The one thing I'd like to know is if there are any randomly generated dungeons?

awesome, the original game was fun on the turbografx, but hopefully, 19 years later, I hope they switch it up a bit and stop ripping off Gauntlet.

After having played the Japanese version of this, all here's a quick run-down:
Sound: 8/10. Nothing great, nothing annoying
Graphics: 9/10 Looks good for a DS game, no dips in framerate
Camera: 7/10 This is just a minor gripe for the most part, but the camera doesn't change. Which means when you're dungeon-crawling in certain corridors, you're walking blind. Most of the time this isn't bad, but sometimes you almost die. Good thing potions are so cheap.
Gameplay (Single) 8.5/10 The story isn't that bad, it does a good job leading you from place to place, and there's almost no instances of backtracking. The characters almost all play differently (9 total), which means that if you were bored, you could play through the game a second time.
Gameplay (Multi): 9.5/10 The multiplayer is actually really fun as long as you don't lag (and it really didn't for me and my friends). Different characters meant different play-styles, and with each character having 2 forms, you had a pretty diverse skill tree with your characters (even though you eventually did grab some overlapping skills).
Overall, I'd give this a 9/10 if you can find some people to play with (and since it's coming to the US, it shouldn't be too hard). It's a fun, somewhat addicting game, but unlike Diablo, there's little incentive to play it after you beat it (even with the side dungeon). Oh, and most likely, if they don't change this, your helper is useless except for finding treasure rooms.
