Diagrams for wacky Wii remote peripherals
Third-party accessory manufacturers aren't the only ones coming up with ridiculous things to attach your Wii remote onto! A recent patent application posted at the European Patent Office's site reveals some of the crazy peripherals Nintendo dreamed up to explain the controller's potential, like the goggles shown above. ThinkGeek's Wii Helm seems like a respectable, thought-out product, compared to this silly idea. Wouldn't that unbalanced weight give you a sore neck after a minute of wearing this headpiece?
And there are much zanier diagrams in the application document -- Wii remotes in racing helmets, bike pedals, skateboard wheels, and teddy bears! How would this stuff even work? There are also drafts for a docking station and the old shotgun-design Zapper (the GameCube and wireless receiver demonstrating the Zapper shows the artwork's age). You can check them all out in our gallery below!

Actually, I don't think the visor is *that* crazy, except for the fact that it actually has goggles attached. Imagine a game that uses one Wiimote in this fashion for head tracking, while a second wiimote/nunchuck is used in the nomal fashion for control.
I can't really think of any specific games that would work like that.. but then again, I'm not a game designer for Nintendo

Fig. 12 looks like a sweet boomerang peripheral :P Is fig. 27 some sort of Wii Teddy Ruxpin?

Man they must really want to push the term "gimmicky" into hardcore gamers minds......No better ideas than this?

I love Fig. 25. It's so bad.

this seems like an attempt to get patents in before major distributors have the chance in order to cash in on any possible future developments with head tracking.
for more info on what is possible with wii head tracking check out johnny chung lee.

The visor may look silly, but the idea behind it isn't - watch this video (skip to about 2:40 if you get bored) to see the concept demonstrated:
