Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you go nuts with the carnage
It may not be the Wii version, but it's pretty much what we should expect from the game: tons of carnage and asskickery using the Force. And even if the Wii version doesn't look as pretty as this, we're still getting exclusive levels to throw stormtroopers around in, which should be nice.
Any Dark Side enthusiasts out there looking forward to unleashing the Force?

I never really did any homework on this game. I was glad to hear there was a Star Wars game coming to the Wii, but I was not aware that you play a bad guy. Hmmm.
JKAntwon @ Jan 29th 2008 4:09PM
but they imply you can go any route you want

I worry about this release. I like what I see from the PS360 versions, but I wonder if they're going to use the same physics engine for the Wii or if they're going to be canned animations everytime you throw a fool. Can the Wii even support that physics engine? I don't mind the drop in detail, as long as I get the same gameplay.
Mr Khan @ Jan 29th 2008 2:14PM
The devs said it obviously isn't Euphoria + DMM + Havoc, but they said they are solid rag-dolls, and the graphical effects are up to good standards
Orion @ Jan 29th 2008 12:39PM
no, it wont be the same physics engine, but from what IGN has said when seeing it played live, it is still VERY impressive for the wii. So still expect to be suprised, it's not just a bunch of animations. It's just the physics engine has been dumbed down a tad to run on this hardware.
From what ive seen, im very impressed with this game, and it's about time a good star wars game that isnt a port of a last gen game came around. The reverse grip on the saber is a nice touch as well.
The game will have you using the nunchuck for force powers and the wii mote for saber, which gets rid of my worries for getting the motions for the two mixed up. Graphically , the wii version is looking great for a wii game was well. This will be one of three purchases i make in april, that's for sure (wii fit, mario kart, sw)

Look, nothing outside of the original 3 movies (Eps. 4,5,6) hold an ounce of interest with me. I loved the games that spawned from these movies as well.
Don't get me wrong, the gameplay elements of other Star Wars games not directed at Eps. 4, 5 and 6 are sometiems amazing, however, the story lines outside of those movies are all crap to me. The worst are those comics that are supposed to take place between movies...pure weakness...
Orion @ Jan 29th 2008 12:46PM
I have high hopes for it though as "anakin" isnt in the game lol. so its more like the older movies already. That actor grated on my nerves and ruined II and III for me (especially III, which was otherwise a decent movie).
But as far as what we have seen of the game (we havent seen much story) it's looking great.
gevenstaines @ Jan 29th 2008 1:12PM
i will definitely pause SSBB to try this game, but if the motion controls don't cut it, I'll go back to smashing. btw there is a dojo update that shows the beginning tracklist, and it's impressive!

This game, like the Wii in general, has tons of potential. Lets see how it ends up, though. Although, I still can't figure out why Nintendo hasn't setup a simple external HDD for the Wii using the USB ports. I've been using external drives for years and they work beautifully.
Gonzo @ Jan 29th 2008 2:21PM
Finally a REAL light saber game, and it looks cool too.
This should really lift my spirits after playing No More Heroes which was maybe my biggest disappointment with a wii game yet.
At least FU doesn't pop a big ugly orange arrow in the middle of the screen to tell you which way to swing.
gevenstaines @ Jan 29th 2008 6:08PM
FU lol. just caught that...
NewJohnny @ Jan 30th 2008 4:05AM
Except that the lightsaber doesn't actually get used. Has ANYONE seen that character swing with it, or is it more like a ski pole for balance?
Gonzo @ Jan 30th 2008 12:04PM
Watch the video.
Most of it's force powers but a couple of clips show saber swinging.
AshStampede @ Jan 29th 2008 3:00PM
Like the rest i am worried about the game play of the physics and the AI to suffer on the wii. I wont pick this game up on release will wait what everyone has to say about the different versions first. Even if i get a ps3 by then, extra levels and (near 1 to 1?) wii lightsaber combat mights sway me to the wii version.
Perverted @ Jan 29th 2008 3:53PM
I read the Wii is a port of the ps2/psp with added waggle so ummm...the graphics can't be impressive. In fact I'll say it now I think the GC version of rogue squadron will have better graphics than the Wii version of this.
It will need super tight controls for me to buy a port(i didn't even get Zelda as it was a port)....
I still see no reason for devs not to scale back the 360 version.....Rockstar done it with table tennis and we've all seen mario galaxy which i think pushed the wii 80%+ and it looked great.
JKAntwon @ Jan 29th 2008 4:12PM
I'm thinking of just getting both the Wii, and the Next Gen Euphoria version... first I need a 360... Indy comes out this year too!
Zack W. @ Jan 29th 2008 4:27PM
That is good to know. I can play the bad guy in many things, but it would seem not quite right to do it in a Star Wars game...however, I am sure that would pass the first time I got to throw people around with my force powers before slicing them in half...heh
Keith @ Jan 29th 2008 10:22PM
Everyone curious about how it will look or play, go check the IGN preview. It looks good, but not as good as the new gen versions especially in details. The physics are said to just be Havok and ragdolls, so death animations won't be canned but objects breaking or enemies grabbing for things will have to be.
IMO it's poor reporting that easily accessible info like that isn't in the main post, but considering it would be anti-Wii version that just means it's par for the course when it comes to NWF reporting on multi-plat games.
killermonkey915 @ Jan 29th 2008 7:53PM
this game looks amzing!
JonP @ Jan 29th 2008 9:37PM
Looks great, but why is he carrying his lightsaber backwards? That would annoy the hell out of me every moment of this game.
