Taking a closer look at the Disney DS guide
Back when we reported on Disney testing out a program where the DS would be used as a tour guide, we had nothing to go on visually. We were left with only our imagination and a text description of some features. It was enough back then, but now we crave more.
And, thanks to one forum poster over at the WDMagic forums, we're actually shown what it looks like. So head past the break for some screens of it in action.

i predict thousands upon thousands of lost styli. My girlfriend and i took our DSsss to Disneyland and they sure made lines go by much faster.. but i think we really annoyed the people behind us. Unfortunately though the screen is nearly impossible to see in direct sunlight. And don't forget a ziplock if you are near water.

My guess is it is a gps addon card (maybe you have to rent it idk) because from the screen shots it seems to know where you are in the park but that is just my guess.

If you look at the PDF instruction book, the bottom right, it talks about returning the "Disney Magic Connection" for the day.
Looks like it also tells you stand by times for the rides.

oh yes

These are my pictures, taken without my permission from another website. You do not have the right to use these pictures, and if they are not removed, I will have them removed.

I do agree that DS Fanboy ought to properly credit you for your photos in the blog (as opposed to the vague "one forum user over at the WDMagic forums") but at least they do link to your original posting (via the "Read" link) however indirect that may be to you. It is unprofessional on their part but ultimately, it's just a blog. I should add that it certainly doesn't help matters any when you immediately make threats in asking for the photos' removal. That's probably why you ended up getting a canned (non)response. For what it's worth, I never would have had the pleasure of seeing your photos if not for DS Fanboy.

They were supposedly taken from a public forum to which you supposedly posted them (publicly).
They were not taken from your personal website and I wonder if any copyrights were posted with them? Do you even own the copyrights to these images, seeing as how this is a product in testing by Disney?
Come. On.
VincentClement @ Feb 27th 2008 9:58PM
Tynda: Just because you post something in a public forum does not mean that copyright does not apply. It's still a form of publishing and copyright most definitely applies.
At the very least DSFanboy should have noted from which website the images come from. I see no such attribution.
Come. On.

^ Supposedly taken from another forum? Click any one of the pictures and just you find out.
Andy @ Jan 29th 2008 3:31PM
Actually, there is attribution

There you go.

What's that silver thing in the GBA slot in the last picture? Are they going to make you pay to rent those things to use the program? I was kind of hoping it'd be a free download...
hvnlysoldr @ Jan 22nd 2008 4:54PM
Maybe that DS is being rented and the accessory is a security device.
TheCoats @ Jan 22nd 2008 2:48PM
OOps....i Kind of Assumed it was free download
hvnlysoldr @ Jan 22nd 2008 4:59PM
Darn should have read the article first. Perhaps this beta uses a flash card and the final version might be downloadable. Either way it should be onubtrusive.
JKAntwon @ Jan 22nd 2008 5:02PM
I think that thing is for their DS. The feature uses the touch screen so I would think its a downloadable feature if you use your own. They may charge for a password or something. I think this thing looks awesome! Is it out now?
Sam @ Jan 22nd 2008 5:35PM
I'm guessing that grey thing is some kind of gps thing?
Matdredalia @ Jan 23rd 2008 8:05AM
Well, the pamphlet actually has a mini-guide to the DS's many parts, so I'm guessing that they are renting out DS's to people who don't have them. Since the system uses the touch screen, I'm inclined to believe that it is probably a security device, as someone mentioned, for rented DS's.
