Drumming to Super Mario 2
The Italian drummer just plays his beats on top of the 8-bit Mario songs, but we love it. Vadrucci is clearly very talented. If there's anything we've learned from games like Rock Band, it's that drumming isn't as easy as it looks.

My sentiments exactly.

The only way to top this would be Neil Peart rocking out ... I can't decide it's a tie between Mega Man and Castlevania.
Paradox @ Jan 22nd 2008 4:29PM
Holy crap, I can berely play the Rock Band drums, let alone keep a drum beat.
Anticrawl @ Jan 22nd 2008 4:58PM
So this is that "different drummer" people always keep talking about others marching to.
Nathew @ Jan 22nd 2008 7:14PM
this guy overdoes it. i prefer the minibosses' version.
Tyler @ Jan 22nd 2008 9:16PM
Actually, he doesn't overdo it. He's a drummer. He's showing off the fact that he can drum very well, as well as proving to be entertaining by drumming to something easily recognizable. I do admit, however, he did rather overdo to on the original SMB soundtrack. This is fine, though.

That was very cool. The Mike Portnoy influence is a little too noticeable, but that isn't a bad thing XD

Nice playing! :+dev:

Would have sounded better with some brushes and jazz style at the beginning... But still awesome.
Maxwell314 @ Jan 23rd 2008 1:46AM
He keeps the the beat very steady with the double kicks.. I like it and he does try to use the full set

I think one of the coolest things about Rock Band and music in video games is that there are so many more people interested in taking the leap to playing real instruments to experiment. While I was at NAMM last week, I saw a new drum company launching this spring called Dixon Drums and they're making high quality, aggresive drum sets on the cheap. If you ever wanted to be a drummer, nows a good time to make the leap. Check out www.myspace.com/dixondrums

Although it was slightly neat, I'm not nearly as impressed with this guy as he is with himself. The drumming was pretty well executed, but really nothing too difficult. What was much more impressive was the recording quality achieved in such a small (appearing) room. I wish I could afford that kind of equipment.

Half the battle with becoming a musician is acquiring gear, so that part is impressive to me too.

That is just awesome. I love Super Mario. Nice work. I think I'm gonna post this video on our page. Speaking of playing drums,
I have a video of my playing Fire by Jimi Hendrix here: http://www.myspace.com/antolickdrum. I also have a free album stream from my band, The Oaks, here: http://www.theoaksband.com
Great work, Andrea!

His rendition of the cave music was my favourite.

I always loved the music from old 8-bit nintendo games with the digitally sampled drums. Games like Super C, Ninja Gaiden II and III, Super Mario 3, and Battletoads.
Then the Genesis came along and you had higher-quality music synthesis with digitally sampled drums. Games like the first Sonic game, the Shinobi games, and the Streets of Rage games.
I absolutely would love to see/hear more drum renditions of classic games.

this is pretty good, don't get me wrong, but he lacks the swing of a drummer well-versed in jazz percussion. he clearly listen to a lost of metal, hence his overbearing style.
listen to some jazz, dude! seriously, it will make you at least twice as good. your kit sounds really good, by the way. way to keep your toms in tune. if i could just get my brother to do that...
Tim @ Jan 24th 2008 7:51PM
It looks like a 9 piece to me, possibly 10. For the non-drummers of the bunch, you only count the bass drum or drums, toms, and snare when you count "pieces" on a set.
