Make those used game trade-ins worthwhile by donating to troops

Many of you aren't fans of a certain trade-in retailer that we know, so why not donate some of your used games instead?Drew Koehler started Trade-ins for Troops, a charity dedicated to giving used video games to U.S. soldiers that are currently overseas. As Koehler puts it, "I think there are a lot of people that may be interested in supporting in a non-financial way, and it's a great opportunity to show the world that gamers care about our troops and would want to see them supported while they are away from home." We agree, good sir.
The charity is especially interested in receiving handheld titles, since portable systems are popular among the troops, but all games are welcome. Video games are a welcome distraction to the men and women overseas, so this charity seems like a nice and easy way to give back a little for the sacrifices they've had to make. With that said, it's time for us to stop being PSA Fanboy; and now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

That's actually a really good idea. Better than getting 5 bucks for a game you spent 30-60 bucks on at any rate, and the troops are happier as a result. Win-win situation. Anyone think they might enjoy a copy of Elite Beat agents?

I can't imagine who WOULDN'T enjoy a copy of Elite Beat Agents! I think I may have to go through mine and see if I have anything I feel might be a worthwhile donation.

Awesome idea. Animal Crossing would be a great game to send because I know I use it to escape the world around me!

Uhuh, sadly I found link to this at our office email list where people were dooming this idea to bottom of sea.
Maybe this hasn't been turned into flame war yet as europeans are still mostly asleep/waking up/doing work (like in here).

#1 - I have yet to see a Flame War on DSFB, the readership tends to be more mature than that.
#2 - What does the Europeans being asleep/waking up/doing work have to do with it? I really don't see Europeans screaming bloody murder over this one just because, though accusing them of being the ones to cause said flame war isn't going to make anyone happy. This isn't about supporting the war (most Americans don't even support it), it's about giving something to the men and women who choose to serve and protect.

This is such a wonderful cause. Please support your troops and send in some of the games you no longer play. Its a way that each and every one of you can make a difference in the lives of others.

The wars in Iraq/Afghanistan are such grave mistakes, but that is no fault of the troops on the ground.
And like someone previously said, regular trade-ins are quite the rip-off. All in all, this seems like an idea with its heart in the right place.

Support the troops and you support the war, its that simple. Also all this talk about "protecting your country" is quite pathetic seeing as neither Iraq or Afghanistan has attacked America. The only thing thats happened is that a group of people blew up the world trade center. Maybe Afghanistan and Iraq let these people stay in their countries, but attacking the countries hasn't really solved anything the only thing it's done is increase the amount of hostility towards America. Never before has so many people been negative towards America just compare America before and after the Bush regime, it's like night and day. Also do you think it's a coincidence that Al Qaeda chose to attack America out of all countries? If you read up on the history of the conflict in Israel you'll find lots of reason for an attack like 9/11, if it justifies the attack or not is up to everyone to decide but it sure wasn't just a random attack.
Also it's quite pathetic to say it's ok to kill innocent people because the troops need money for college. I suppose the nazis cause was justified as well if they were in the army to pay for college? Bottomline is if you join the army and you obey it then you support its cause, you could always refuse to fight. Sending gifts to the troops is like claiming to support vegetarianism and donating money to KFC.

Wow, you managed to reach a Nazi comparison in just 2 paragraphs. Impressive.
I'd sure as hell not make life any easier for US troops, because going to war means they actively support said war, and wish to further it. I'd rather have my 5 bucks than give these people the time of day.
That said, I completely disagree with the above post. Saying that the conflict in Isreal could ever justify the 9/11 attacks is absurd.
