Friday Video: What's better than Sega Superstars Tennis?
The trailer for Sega Superstars Tennis. This thing is brutally insane. Beat's all skating up a tree and flying 50 feet into the air to return a shot, Dr. Eggman's got multiple bionic rackets, and Sonic does a loop at super-speed to build up momentum for his return, after rescuing Amigo from a potentially fatal fall.
We want to play the trailer. There's no way any of this awesome stuff is going to happen in the game. It's all going to be Sega characters playing tennis, with, like, a few special moves. Not that that isn't great, it's just not ... brutally insane.

I haven't even played any Sega game aside from Sonic, but I am always psyched about cross-overs.

You owe it to yourself to get a Dreamcast (can easily be gotten for $20-30) and play some gems like Jet Grind Radio.

I concur. The Dreamcast has some of the greatest gaming experiences ever created, ones that we likely will never experience again-- much like the Wii. I would compare the emotions each evoke from me while playing them as similar, and I was about two years late to hop on the Dreamcast bandwagon.

Beat FTW

Out of control! I really hope they don't mess this one up (at least, the Wii version..)

Am I the only person who thought upon viewing that trailer that Nintendo (and Sega) would've been incredibly well served to include more Sega characters in SSBB? Dr. Eggman, Beat, Ulala, heck, who wouldn't want to play as Amigo? I'd love to lay waste to Snake with the sweet beat-down samba of my maracas. NiGHTS would have been an excellent addition and tie-in as the release dates are fairly close together, never mind the fact that NiGHTS rocks on his own.
I've never played or owned any title in Sega's tennis series (were there previous ones?) or Smash Bros., but I would've found myself compelled beyond any ability to resist to pick up SSBB if it had included some of these characters. As it is, Brawl is in a long list, near the bottom of the queue (thanks to a prolonged period of unemployment), but I'd go out and reserve it tomorrow if it had some of this magic in it. Mind you, this is no knock on SSBB or the series or what great games they are. I'm sure they're awesome. However, I'm bumping Sega Superstars Tennis to near the very top. My wife and I still play a lot of Wii Sports Tennis together and I'm really stoked about what I've seen here.

The Virtua Tennis games are fantastic.
And to be honest (and I will get flamed severely for this) I've always preferred Sega's cast of characters, with the exception of Sonic's 'friends.'

Sega should make another Fighters Megamix
That would satisfy a lot of cravings

The way Sonic acted, especially how he used the loop and springs, is how he should play in his games. That would be a real Sonic game!
Anyways, this game actually looks really good, but I want to get Brawl and Mario Kart first.

Man... is this some kind of dream or something!? I crapped my pants when I saw Beat, lol!

For all we know it does. It's true that a lot of stuff has been revealed, but I think most likely there's still a fair bit (including a few characters) that we don't know.

This trailer is happy and bright but seems cold and dead inside :(
