Despite
Hori's reputation for producing quality arcade joysticks for consoles, its $50
Fighting Stick Wii is just too expensive for many gamers. If you're one of those people seeking an arcade alternative to the
Classic Controller, but not looking to pay any more than two
Jacksons, thank your lucky stars that you loaded Nintendo Wii Fanboy today -- Overstock.com has Hori's "Wii Digital Arcade Stick" temporarily listed for $38.95.
We can't guarantee that this deal will stay up for long, so swoop in fast and snatch your prize,
like a hawk, while the sale lasts.
Make sure to throw a free shipping coupon onto your order, too.Update: Apparently, the free shipping coupon doesn't work on video game-related items. That is some straight-up malarkey. Thanks, Garu.

I bought one a couple of months ago, but don't use it much. It's my first arcade joystick so I have nothing to compare it to, but the quality seems fine to me. It is a bit lightweight, so I have to be careful to not push down with much force near the edges, or it will tip up.
I think I would use it more if I had a friend who enjoys fighting games.

I got as far as putting it in a shopping cart before deciding against it. It's only $4 more at amazon so I can pass for now. I'd like to start getting more VC fighting games before I make the plunge on this one (and the 360 stick as well) and that will happen when I have more space for VC games.

I've enver liked arcade sticks. D-Pads all the way baby.
James @ Jan 10th 2008 11:52AM
My question is, can you customize the controls? I've been bitten before with a PS2 joystick that ONLY provides D-pad controls. In games that require the analog stick, you're SOL. I would want to be 100% sure that this would work with e.g. Brawl before I take the plunge.

Well, for brawl you can change the controls in-game to whatever you like. I wonder the same thing for VC SNK games, etc. though...
GumbyX84 @ Jan 10th 2008 12:44PM
Sadly you can't. The stick and buttons are digital only. Sucks, because its a really nice stick. I wanted to use it for DBZ: BT2, but with only digital buttons, the game is near impossible to play.

I placed the order and then went back and canceled it. The free shipping coupon didn't work. The rep said that the free shipping coupons don't apply to some items including video games. So with Amazon giving free shipping it's only, like, .91¢ more. I may still get it. I wish I could see it in person first.

Your welcome Eric!
I'm a big retro gamer and I have all of the Gamecube's arcade compilations. But without a real arcade stick it's just not the same. So I may still end up ordering this from Amazon eventually. I'm concerned by ramuji's comment that it is lightweight.

Just putting in word of the quality of the stick -- I'm 95% sure it's the same model as the 360 Hori DOA/VF stick, if you've seen those. It's pretty quality, and you won't find a better one out-of-the-box on Wii for possibly ever.

Buy it from Amazon w/free shipping. I always have problems at Overstock.com, which is why I never use them. Also, for every 1 deal they have, they have 5 grossly overpriced items. At least it seems that way.
Garu @ Jan 10th 2008 1:54PM
This works for Gamecube games, correct?
