Because playing Shadows of the Empire on the go is a necessity
We love mods as much as the next person, but this unit above actually lacks one important feature: being able to use it. We wonder how one could actually go about setting the controller above the display, as we can only picture ourselves trying to play this and seeing nothing but forearm. Unless the game we're playing is Forearm Explosion: The Jupiter Exchange Incident, we're not sure we could get through any game on this console.

Really? Are you serious? So, with this sitting say on your lap and your hands on the controls, you wouldn't be able to see the screen? I will pick up my wireless keyboard now and hold the sides. Wow, my arms are not making this shape: >.
Unless your hands have giant grocery bags filled with like bile or something coming off them at 90 degree angles, you should be fine mate.

ok great thanks to html my shapes didn't work right. I mean to say your arms go like this? X when really they would go like (keyboard in middle) only imagine the parentheses were bendy arms. you would have to dislocate your elbows to have a problem or have giant 90 degree angle flesh bags coming off your wrist to have a problem.

Any chance the photo (or unit) is upside down? It also seems weird that the plugs would be on the bottom.
troy @ Jan 7th 2008 2:25PM
Good point, either the photo or unit would only need to be upside down to more resemble currently existing portables. But even so it is not something that could 'block' the screen unless your arms were connected, you had arms that could move inside your arms (4 arm minimum for this to be a problem) or had some kind of rubbery bone disorder, in which case you couldn't play anyway.

I would guess from where the controls were though that it is right side up.
troy @ Jan 7th 2008 2:27PM
I'm sorry to harp on this, but if the buttons on the DS were on the top screen and the speakers on the lower, would your forearms be crossing the screens? I mean: I guess I just dont' understand what you were saying. I like this creation. Somebody with a lot of skill obviously did something a lot of people wish they could do: and now they can play N64 games raw where ever they go. Portable Ocarina!

This is as portable as the virtual boy.

So do you just post the sources from GoNintendo as your sources or how does that work?
David Hinkle @ Jan 7th 2008 3:49PM
What do you mean Go Nintendo? Found this on Max Console, as it says in the post above.

Laughed at the headline. I'll admit, SOTE sucks now but back then it was the only place to get a genuine Hoth experience. It wowed my brother and I back in the day big time.
David Hinkle @ Jan 7th 2008 3:48PM
Shooting through Mos Eisley on that bike and taking down those walkers on Hoth was where it was at back in the day.
RDX @ Jan 7th 2008 4:29PM
Dude! I forgot about the speeder bike chase through Mos Eisley! And hunting down IG-88 on the train? A fighting Slave I?
God....I'm such a nerd...

The only problem I can see with this is the fact that I'm not used to playing with the buttons ABOVE the screen, but I'm sure I could get used to that real quick. Either way, it's cool.
I just wanna see where the Z button is. If I remember correctly, the actual controller had it underneath the analogue stick. Would it be in the same place on the handheld? Or did they go Gamecube style and put it near either the L or R button?
Metroid fan @ Jan 7th 2008 7:22PM
Ok, this is just retarded, unless you have arms the size of cows you can see the screen fine. Try putting the controller on the bottom and it's so incredibly top heavy that you're arms will fall off. Look at half the creations on benheck.com and you will see that most of the mods have controls above the screen. So obviously you haven't played around with mods much and have no experience with mods of this kind.

Seriously...I love SotE. It was my favorite game when I was younger. My youth was spent between SotE and Star Fox 64.
