Subscribing with power (and $3.23)
The common argument against subscribing video game magazines is that you can get all of your news on the internet for free, but Nintendo Power has done a good job separating itself from its online competition with exclusive previews, attractive posters, and interviews with interesting figures. And with this latest bargain, you can get a hella cheap subscription for 12 months. BestDealMagazines.com, a site which we assume trades in the best deals for magazines, is offering a year's worth of Nintendo Power issues and a free gift for only $3.99. Type in the "YEAREND19" coupon code during checkout, and you'll save 19%, dropping your final total to $3.23. See what we mean? Hella cheap.

I was about to order... but I looked up some reviews for bestdealmagazines.com and they were 3/10, most of the people were "dissatisfied" and they never received there subscription. Thanks for looking out for us fanboy...

Well upon hearing this I read ALL the reviews of the site I could find. Apparently a lot of people have good luck with it so I tried it. It's only $3 so it's worth a shot.

To the posters above who express skepticism - I have used this site for over fifty magazine subscriptions and I can assure you they are decent. Their prices are great and I have NEVER had a problem with the site. They do send you one email per week detailing their daily specials (which this one is) and the occasional special code that gets you a better discount. I am sure you can unsubscribe.
I have no idea why they've gotten a bad review with one exception - it will take 6-8 weeks until you get your first issue.
Garst @ Jan 1st 2008 10:19PM
That not really an exception, most magazines keep you waiting that long when you subscribe before you get your first one.

yeah, if you guys don't feel comfortable ordering from them, we won't hold it against you. a couple of us on staff subscribed and extended subscriptions -- three bucks and a quarter didn't seem like much of a risk. the same site ran a similar deal around the same time last year, and very few, if any, reported any problems with them. if you've registered at CAG, you can check out these two threads to see what people have to say about subscribing through the site:

Squashua @ Jan 1st 2008 9:46PM
The new Nintendo Power sucks anyway. It's not as good as it used to be and it's just too full of advertisements and useless content now.
If it came with a demo disk, I'd be more inclined.
Shadow31 @ Jan 1st 2008 10:39PM
I hear you. I've been saying the same thing. I'm not renewing my subscription when this one runs out unless they pick up their act. I haven't gotten anything out of the newer NP issues, all the info I already knew, the screenshots I already seen, good sections are being ruined, etc...
A demo disc would in fact make up for all the crap...

completely terrible free gifts though. Horrendous! It is links to 5 e-books of your choice. Most (if not all) are available from the Gutenberg project, and are old and have no copyrights anymore. Abysmal.
I was hoping for the free gift Nintendo offers.
Haohmaru @ Jan 2nd 2008 12:46AM
I renewed mine. At $3.23, the price is right.
